To be fair, bank apps are in a special category of "horrendously bad", and at least theoretically these new companies have better ones.
If you consider "hipster shitpile" to be better than a regular bank app, sure. And if you want your bank to just have a fraction of the features of a regular bank.
Well considering most hipster shitpiles actually log in and function (at least for the single hipster-ish bank account I have) while the traditional banks are a guessing game (we gonna forget my biometric login today? How about require [SMS-based only] 2fa despite me checking the box instructing you not to? Oh wait we log in and the screen is blank. Excellent.)
We seem to have more competent bankIT in Sweden then. Our banks have apps that work, good 2FA and it all seems to be pretty feature rich.
I worked for Swedish banks in the past. Let god have mercy on your souls.
My company has a few of the Swedish banks as clients, so I've peered behind that particular curtain. While pretty fucked up, it's still about on par for software in general, not that that makes it "good".
As I've told a few companies, being the best in class does not mean you're good, just that everyone else is more retarded.
Maybe you've seen different banks than me.
