NaNoWriMo
You'd think that a national group of writers could come up with a better name.
-
@loopback0 I was going to say it was more like an anarcho-syndicalist commune but it's not. It's just a loose group of people who use it as an excuse to try not to put off a thing that's hard for a hobby,

Status: Wishing I could reach out over TCP/IP and choke people on LinkedIn.
I'm looking right at a job posting and some moron is telling me it starts at 20% over the top of the posted pay range. They're also adamant that two bills, one to strip the pension from new hires and another to dissolve the civil service commission, totally didn't pass three years ago so all the literature that I received from the pension fund about both totally doesn't exist.

Nice segue from the topic of profusely swearing at stuff.

It can be paid for out of the threads budget.

STATUS I've read three paragraphs and I hate it already. I should give up and become a hermit.

Got an email about an order I apparently placed, with a weirdly misspelled subject. Figured it was spam.
The clincher? It was signed Norton™ 360 Customer Care so it had to be fake.

No clue. Haven't done anything with (UI or graphics or mathematical) transformations recently. My brain bubbles up all sorts of stuff at random.
-
@Benjamin-Hall ? Affine transformation, origin, ...

Yeah, on my part. I will say that as part of my half-waking/half-dreaming state I did make sure to verify that a translation is not the same as just changing the origin of the transformation...my brain is screwy.

Status: So I got homework from an interview to implement a client server project using WCF or WebAPI. They want me to get VS 2017 because WebAPI is only supported in .NET 4.0+ and I think WCF was in 3.0 or 3.5. Long story short...if WebAPI is just passing JSON/XML messages over HTTP, why do I need a specific version of .NET?

I am intensely jealous and hate you eternally.
-
@Zenith anything older than 4.5.2 is out of support and 4.5.2 to 4.6.1 go EOL in 6 months, so why would anyone build (or pay someone else to build) anything new on an older version anyway?
Plus wouldn't at least 4.5 be required for TLS 1.2 support?I know it's just homework but surely the point is to have a candidate prove that they can use the right versions of stuff as that's what you want to pay them to do?

Because that's what they are used to and support doesn't matter.

Corporate support has been, in my experience, about as useful as the extended warranties pushed by cashiers at GameStop. They don't know any more than you do and immediately push "buy the new version" as the only solution.
The more I think about this, the less I feel like jumping through these hoops.
