I don't really drink lager, but when I do, bud is no worse than any other, and considerably better than a lot. Peroni is the best lager though
If I am drinking lager, give me a good pilsner. They are good summer beers.

Watched it, think it's OK but hugely overrated. I think I'd be more positive about it if it hadn't been built up as the best TV evar

Did someone say "The Wire"?

Waterworld was a fantastic picture and I would watch it at least once a year if Netflix had it.
-
I liked the Windows XP look.
I kinda liked Windows Vista.
I liked Windows 8, except for the "modern apps always run FULL SCREEN" part.
I think Microsoft is right to force updates on Windows 10. Though they should remake Windows Update and focus on reducing those install times.

@kt_ I think Jar Jar Abrams is a god aweful director and in making TFA, a mediocre movie, he created his masterpiece because everything else he did is way worse. TFA would actually be a decent movie if it lacked al the Abrams-isms like characters making decisions and judgement calls about other people way too fast to be believable and could have been great in the hands of a competent director; that is to say, it is exactly like all other Star Wars movies, including the much overrated original trilogy. If you watch the clone wars series with a good episode guide telling you what to skip you will come out having watched a better and more engaging story than you could get out of any of the star wars movies.
Edit:
Oh and as for other unpopular opinions, I would have learned a lot more languages just for fun, but whenever I try all I can think of is "Oh god, why is it so stupidly fickly to set up all of this, I don't want to set up an autocomplete server for Vim, I want something like PyCharm or Lazarus oh dear god please no" and I stopped. That last happened with D. It seems like such a nice language but when there is no ready made IDE or a simple plugin for something like VS code, I just quit. There are plugins but they allways involve setting up three different autocomplete servers and editing path and all that shit.

That doesn't answer the question of whether you enjoy beer.

@asdf His brother, though, did amazing work with Person of Interest.
I have been watching that on Netflix recently.
I watched through that on Netflix recently. Couldn't binge just cause the subject was so heavy that watching more than 1-2 episodes at a time was too much.
I think it started to drag after mid-season-3 though, because of [spoiler], and then they kept piling unfortunate circumstances on the protagonists. At least some blame can apparently be slung at the network for screwing it over.

@coderpatsy I agree that the latter seasons weren't as good as the earlier ones - but they were still good.

Woosh.
Sorry, been drinking a lot of Bud...back from the toilet. Yes! I do! Oh, here's another opinion:
IPAs are not fit to drink.
-
2001: A Space Odyssey was an excellent 1h 29m film; maybe even a good 1h 59m film.
-
@coderpatsy Must stop reading, I am only in season 2.

And then the woosh began.

Yeah not even Lord of the Rings feels that long.

@loopback0 ON TOPIC :o
I don't like Lord of the Rings

@loopback0 the books or the films? Or both?

21h 59h and forgetting to change that last letter...

The films. Or rather, the film and a half I made it through.
I haven't read the books and I don't intend to.

Your'e not supposed to. He's the evil bad guy. Duh.

I don't like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. As far as humour goes, it's fairly mediocre. The fact that everybody needs to repeat "jokes" from it doesn't make it better.

There were supposed to be major story arcs to the series, so it would have been a lot better if it hadn't been cancelled so early. It's like judging a book that abruptly ends after chapter 5.

Programmers often don't understand that you can't just write a specification, a reference implementation, drop it on a website and expect everyone to use it.
If you want your product to gain market share, you gotta do it properly whether it's a programming language or an office suite: this means creating a brand (catchy name and logo), doing UX testing on absolutely everything related to your product, making sure there are no rough edges anywhere that could scare new users away, making every effort you can to integrate with existing products, and top it all off with a nice big marketing campaign on relevant websites.
If a product expects you to do work to use it, it's definitely .
And for the love of god, CLIs, APIs and programming languages are user interfaces too. As such, they need a proper design and some usability testing.

While we're on the subject, I still say that the Street Fighter movie (the one with Jean Claude Van Dam) is an entertaining movie if you turn off your brain.

Everyone has the moral obligation to care about literally everyone else in the planet (well, and rest of the universe), regardless of distance and nationality.
Edit: this got many more likes than I expected. I hope you people realize this has very deep implications, like that we should be spending a good chunk of our money building free infrastructures for poor countries, etc.

Hear, hear, or rather, don't. Ligeti's Atmosphères or Requiem were so annoying as fuck that I was glad that fast-forwarding the movie also suppresses the sound.
Oh, not to mention the space travel scene or the incomprehensible scene just afterwards where the protagonist is stuck in a room.
TLDS; try the tie-in book, at least it explains what is going on (basically because it was written together with the script).

I still like Discourse, it has lots of cool features. And Jeff isn't so bad as people paint him here if you consider how much shit people were giving him here.
-
-
My Little Pony isn't all that bad. In fact, it's pretty good,
_PROVIDED_ you only consider the TV show itself and ignore **absolutely everything else** that has been built up around it.

And what they did to Han Solo deserves hanging.
I have no qualms about killing him off. The way it was handled was, however, utter shit.

@wharrgarbl Discourse has lots of nice features, but also lots of bad misfeatures, like needing a high end phone to run smoothly (it just shows text ffs), and was built with some shitty design choices.
Jeff did endure some mockery here, and I'd understand if he had just written an angry rant telling us to fuck off and die or something. At the same time though, he handled everything with the social skills of a rotten potato (deleting bug reports without responding, etc.) and ended up banning everyone over a legitimate bug report that he dismissed without even reading.
