I am ok with that.

I wonder if these people will realize that their outrage validates our opinions.
-
@boomzilla But what rant would be complete without some competing stupidity?
Also concerning: That this garment may be allowing affluent people to appropriate the jumpsuit, which has traditionally been a working-class staple, Stryker writes.

I'm not joking.

@Tsaukpaetra I love how that gif makes sure to always show it on a page where it's not interfering with text

@Tsaukpaetra My kindle has a better one of those.

@Polygeekery That thing looks like a precision built engine or some part for NASA. Geezus.
-
@Zecc You fugot the letta 'AAaa'
-
@Tsaukpaetra Well they have some cute designs, at least. I actually would like something a bit less inconvenient than a bookmark (I hate having to keep track of it while reading on the go), but this seems a bit ridiculous.
-

doesn't help if you drop the book.
Having seen the idea, though, this sounds like a do-it-yourself craft rather than a product. I mean, really, whose pintrest did they steal this from?

This happened often enough that I got really good at recovering my position in books up to 1300 pages using a combination of techniques ranging from crease-detection, strain analysis, and speed-scan matching against recollection.

How about a clip-on version of the ribbon you get as a placeholder in some books? Same concept as this thing with the magnets but it goes on the top (if it was designed carefully it might be able to fit on the spine on a lot of hardback, but would go on the back cover where that's not possible). You have to put it in place before shutting the book but you don't have to remember where you put it down.

That's not too bad, actually. Now to find a cute ribbon...
-
@Fox said in Dumb things being crowdfunded.:
cute ribbon
Went searching, but it seems cuteness isn't defined by the ribbon, but requires conjunction with an object...

@Polygeekery I was a bit confused when he said that the motor has a force/torque of two Teslas.
I immediately thought: "But Tesla is a unit of magnetic flux density!"

@Polygeekery Indeed, nothing better than fresh, cold-pressed rum.

I dunno...they basically look like souped up slippers that you can wear outdoors. I can see the attraction.

If they could get those down to $25 and put them in my local Kohls so I don't have to give IndieGogo any money, I'd probably pick up a pair. Honestly looks pretty cool. Also my feet are exactly 11.5" which puts me directly in between two of their size categories. I never know whether to go bigger or smaller.

if they bring them to market and bring the price down i'd buy some.
i need to get something like that as i habitually go stockinged in the office and that wears through standard stockings in no time at all.

Kinda depend on how many wearings I get out of one before I have to wash. Because I'd likely want a few pair, 4 for $50 would work for me.

I can't say I was surprised when I saw this. I'd been keeping my eye on Plastc for about 18 months, and I saw them push back their ship several times. I was tempted to preorder, but their track record kept me from getting on that band wagon.
