@loopback0 Quinvigintuple fisting?
-
Please note your employer does not care whether you are watching furry or midget porn during work.
They care that you're watching porn. Which this doesn't hide.

Pornhub has long been a bastion of responsible behavior. They're among the first to set up help for the victims of terrorist attacks and natural disasters. Which pisses off the forces who try to paint them as evil moneygrubbing trolls only interested in catering to peoples' basest desires.

Frankly, the only thing that would annoy me about deprecating HTTP altogether is that I'd have to get fucking SSL certificates cut for all my work servers, and that would imply people doing WORK.
... I may do this anyway. And I may switch to certificate auth from NTLM.

Nope, I don't. And don't call me Shirley.

It's never going to happen for precisely that reason. Which is unfortunate.

But that would mean you're using :gasp: not chrome. Possibly something much much more sinister, such as Firefox?

I wonder if this has anything to do with the ISPs-can-sell-your-internet-history thing...

They care that you're watching porn.
They care that you're not doing your job. Also exposing them to sexual harrassment lawsuits and such.

Given your long-running WTF thread I'd say you'll have the same problem I do: Too many incompetents. I've taken to using the phrase "SSL is hard" when people suggest stuff that requires infrastructure, just to remind them that we can't really get anything done in that space.
-
@Weng said in Good News: Pornhub and YouPorn switch to HTTPS:

Best deployment decision I made in this area: get a wildcard certificate, put it on an nginx instance, and then get that to act as a front end to the bunch of shitty other services that then didn't need to be converted to HTTPS. Also easier to set up firewall to work with that.

@PleegWat said in Good News: Pornhub and YouPorn switch to HTTPS:

They care that you're watching porn. Which this doesn't hide.
They should just set up a bunch of alternative domains like
cutekittens.com
,techtips.com
or something like this. Add some nonce URLs to that so that the admins visiting the page later get a bunch of kittens and you're all set.

I don't know what's up with the emoji. You're not wrong.
-
@PleegWat I would care that someone was watching furry porn on pornhub.
Like, what kind of normie crap are you finding there?

All that stuff in any configuration is weird. And gross. From my perspective, all of you - gay straight or bi - are sex maniacs.

-
@Onyx I'm disinclined to watch that at work.

You can always run your own private CA.
It's just that your colleagues have to trust you not to use your powers for evil (e.g. like running a covert MITM server handing out its own certificates for www.google.com), IF THEY CARE AT ALL.

@CarrieVS said in Good News: Pornhub and YouPorn switch to HTTPS:

Should be perfectly safe, it ran on TV after all.
But fair 'nuff.
-
@Onyx Well I didn't know what it was (still don't actually), and I have no privacy whatsoever, my desk and screen are overlooked. Besides, I try not to watch videos in general -if anyone's monitoring, my internet usage is probably high enough with all the time I spend on here - so I have a pretty low threshold.
-

I wonder what that would look like. HTTPS to localhost for development work too? How about to local VMs that need to be accessed by IP address?
-

WtfCorp already has its own CA. And people whose literal job it is to cut certificates.
I'm going to request one for one of my dev boxes and see what happens.

Well, helping victims of terrorist attacks and natural disasters are two of the basest desires of your average porn-viewer, right?

That's not a good way to promote your company's IT services. Browsing over http is dangerous, you risk cookie hijacking and all sorts of nasty stuff. 0/10 would not hire.
