Insert Will Rogers quote about going out on a limb as that's where the fruit is.
Most people don't have plenty of good job options. It's not easy to move on, and it's sad if you have to take an otherwise worse one because of something unfair.
That would be a good point if we weren't talking about Riot, a super-exclusive and "prestigious" employer in a super-exclusive industry. I would be surprised if their worst programmer couldn't get a job at Boring, Small, Underpaying ERP System Company #15785.

@Magus One thing I admire about Team Fortress 2 is that, despite it being a team game, it's practically impossible to mess with other players. The worst you can do is not contribute to the team, and even then the experience doesn't get much worse for the rest.
In some other games, you get on a random match and you instantly get "OMG WHY ARE YOU FALLING BEHIND, YOU'RE RUINING THE GAME kick player vote".
But TF2 is p. dead.
What are the cool kids playing these days? PUBG? Fortnite? Please tell me there's a third option.
Overwatch.

Did it occur to you that it's right and proper for people to complain about a sexist toxic company even existing in 2018?
That's like saying "sure the milk deliveryman whips his horses but you have an option not to buy the milk." Well ok, but why don't we focus on the problem of the horse whipping too?
No, because the only sufferers in this case are the people who choose to work at the toxic company that don't want to. Victimless.

When someone says 'toxic culture', they don't really mean that the culture is harmful. They just mean that they're too delicate for the culture. Some places have more aggressive culture than others, but that's not necessarily toxic. The sexism allegations should be followed up on, but workplace culture involving things like offensive jokes is just a different level of aggressiveness in the culture. If you can't deal with it, then don't. But don't blame it for your own issues.

Hmm. The last time I played that game, it reminded me of most of the beefs I had with TF2 a decade ago; basically, that the balance between classes is paper-scissors-rock, and it's hard playing against your own hard-counter.
Conveniently, I picked up S4 not long after TF2, and found it to be a far more appealing game for a few years until the developers got simultaneously more greedy and stupid, turning the game into a P2W hell and breaking the game more and more each patch (hint: if you find yourself creating a skill that one-shots everything three yards directly in front of you, has a very short warm-up and is almost impossible to counter or mitigate, ya done fucked up as a developer).
In S4, you picked your own weapon and skill loadout, so you could either actively choose the Crippling Overspecialization that TF2 forced on you, or come up with a more versatile setup with fewer, or completely different weaknesses. Amusingly, the developers eventually decided this was Too Much Choice and created recommended loadouts for "Striker", "Invader", "Guard", etc.
Maybe I'll give it another chance.

Я не понимаю. Could you phrase your question differently? I meant that given who's the developer (and what the reviews say), there's a very high chance it's genuinely good, depite being Spider-Man. But $59.99 is over my games budget, especially since Spyro is coming in 2 months.

There are a couple of hard counters (with enough skill involved), but if you only play one character, that's on you. It's a good idea to be good at several characters, so you could easily switch to a class the team is lacking in, or switch off of the hero that is being countered, or switch to a hero that can counter someone on the enemy team.
You'll run into the hard counter problem less often than TF2. Some matchups are completely unwinnable, like Symmetra vs Winston before her recent patch, but the enemy team is not going to add a Winston if they're working well as they are and if a Winston wouldn't work well given the rest of their team. And it should be easy for you to switch off of Symmetra because ideally you would have a few other characters lined up that you can be. Most characters don't have a hard counter in the first place anyway..

yes, there's some overlap in the two groups but you need to discern which group affiliation creates the motivation, no?
i mean, if you're a member of NRA, and a psychopath at the same time, and decide to shoot up a school, it would be incorrect to claim that "NRA member commits mass murder", because that's (most likely) not where your motivation to do that comes from. i would even call such a claim to be an outright lie. your motivation to do the shooting would most likely come from your "membership" in the "group" of psychopaths.

Not buying the milk is how you exert leverage over the deliveryman. If another deliveryman springs up who doesn't whip horses, the second one steals the business of those for whom the whipping is an issue.
And then the Horse Whipper Brotherhood gets their butt in a knot about how the poor milkman's livelihood is being effected by a bunch of "whiny liberals".
When people point out that the Horse Whipper Brotherhood shouldn't be listened to, because they're a bunch of sadistic shitholes who are gross, they go "oh no, the Horse Whipper Brotherhood hasn't actually existed since 1930s, you just accuse everyone you don't like of whipping horses."
Even once video surfaces of the milkman literally whipping a horse to death with a "good ole fashioned negro-hanging rope", people will just keep buying milk from him to "own the libs". Meanwhile, the Horse Whipper Brotherhood donates money to a Super PAC who runs a campaign of "it's our God Given Right to have beliefs for OURSELVES if horses should be whipped or not. Stop forcing your agenda on us".

@Lorne-Kates I feel like you had a point in the beginning, and then didn't look where you were going and accidentally dropped it down a storm drain.
-
@Lorne-Kates That's a mighty wide brush you're using. It looks a lot like Blakey's.
But in the case of Riot, this whole problem is their fault: both their community and their company are apparently full of utterly horrid people. But nothing is likely to ruin them despite that, because their horrid community is a large number of orders of magnitude bigger than both their employee count and the number of people who want to talk about their issues. People actually seem to enjoy that sludge.
So they can at least afford to do these internal gymnastics to fix their employee-base, but even that makes me a bit skeptical: they don't have to do much at all at this point to keep people playing, and it certainly isn't a tenth the size of making a new game. Which means the only people who are likely to want to work for them are those who want to change things: their most die-hard fans who want to leave their fingerprints, and outsiders who see the toxicity - both of which are going to just cause more internal conflict on a much greater scale than they'll be capable of fixing things.
I don't know how this mess can be dealt with - but it doesn't make sense to me to expect anything good to come from them in the future.

That's the key. Riot will continue to make money hand over fist as long as the cargo-cultist illusion that their product is a "good competitive game" persists, and the related tournament prizes continue to motivate people to keep playing the game.
So they can at least afford to do these internal gymnastics to fix their employee-base, but even that makes me a bit skeptical: they don't have to do much at all at this point to keep people playing, and it certainly isn't a tenth the size of making a new game. there was a government ... the old one continues after the elections until a new cabinet is formed. There are a few restraints, it is said to be 'running cases' e.g. it is supposed to only continue and don't take new initiatives. But except from normal checks no explicit extra rules are in place.
technically even without a cabinet there still is a government, eg government is bigger then the ministers in the federal cabinet.
The king as head of state and the parliament chairmen are the only ones required for forming a new cabinet.

Careful or you risk a punch.
Fruit punch? Rum punch?
Never drink the punch.
But he said it was the only way I could get to heaven.

I though you were gonna complain how he's "white CIS mail", thus he doesn't have magical properties needed to fix culture.
Wait that's a dude?
No.

The only MOBA I can tolerate is Heroes of the Storm, and even that is pushing it.
I'll echo this sentiment.
People unironically play Heroes of the Storm?
I occasionally play it when a friend of mine gets in the mood to play a few rounds to clear out his quests or see what new free heroes are available, and we only ever play against bots. This may happen once every other month or so.
I suck at it. I've gotten OK with a few heroes, but they're usually either supports or some of the stranger sniper-types (like Chromie, who's basically useless against minions but can be stupid-strong against other heroes), so I don't pay attention to mechanics, I just go where people either need healing or killing.
