We have a thread somewhere around here that proves that since I can't read it now, I'm not bound by it!
-
@Rhywden Submitting a PR to have it alternate between Comic Sans and Papyrus, letter by letter
-
@JBert I hope it explicitly excludes Comic Sans or Papyrus
So, if it excludes one but includes the other, you're ok with that?
or I may have to murder a bunny.
That's an unusual name for a typeface. Is @Lorne-Kates a font designer?
-
@HardwareGeek Did I say
xor
?
-
@Rhywden No, you said
or
, meaning one or the other or both. I assume you probably really want both excluded, in which case neitheror
norxor
is the correct operation. The correct operation for the case in which you want condition A and condition B to both be true is left as an exercise for the reader.

Stop behaving like @Rhywden's students.

A. I don't want French or French, no idea why that's even in there, and B. it isn't actually working on any language.

French is soooo complicated, you need two spellchecker for it

t isn't actually working on any language.
Well, the radio buttons are jammed. It can't spellcheck French, English UK, and French simultaneously.

You're going to need to push all five radio buttons at once lightly, then try again.

So Chrome just updated to 71 on my work computer and the flag to turn off the ass ugly rounded interface is gone.

@TimeBandit
I mean, they probably mean French (Official) and French (Canada). But L'Academie Francaise sends the Spanish Inquisition after anyone who suggests there can possibly be any French other than Official.
-
@izzion Wow, no one would expect that.

@HardwareGeek said in UI Bites:

I'd honestly not expect that. I'd assume it was some kind of French inquisition.
-

Given you've spelt their name wrong, now they will be coming for you.
Or they would, if they weren't old geezers with no real power, and considered irrelevant by 99.9% of the French people.

@topspin Now that the joke has been made twice in quick succession, I'll point out that I never said you're not bound by what you don't read, but instead that you're not bound by what you don't knowingly agree to.

But you can't knowingly agree to something you didn't read, but that's all in another thread.

The Steam Queue asks me for my birthday on almost every single item, even though I'm logged in. Well, I wasn't that interested in browsing games anyway.
-
@mott555 It also still loves to ask you whether your email is still correct al the time.
Then if you say yes. demand you verify it.
-
@mott555 I find it amusing that you can toggle a setting in your preferences to include products with mature content in what you can see in the store, either generically or specifically which type of mature content you're fine with, but they still age gate you.
Though, I don't get hit with the age gate every time, just once per day, and that's through the Steam client. I have Enhanced Steam installed in Chrome at home, which can auto-answer the age gate if it pops up.
-
@mott555 IIRC, this is a combination of a legal change and an improvement. The legal change means they have to ask each time, the improvement is remembering what you entered last time so you can just hit a button instead of having to scroll the years back down to ~2000 or earlier.
I don't know about you, but I'm just clicking "next" 40 times a day for tiny amounts of free junk. The Queue itself is unlikely to give me anything I don't already have on my radar.
-
the improvement is remembering what you entered last time so you can just hit a button instead of having to scroll the years back down
This part does not seem to work for me.
-
@mott555 Oh. You must be using the freemium version of Steam...
-
The Steam Queue asks me for my birthday on almost every single item, even though I'm logged in. Well, I wasn't that interested in browsing games anyway.
I remember when, if you failed the check, you'd be kicked out and couldn't continue the queue.
Now the "next item" button is on the check page, so you can blitz through it even faster.
-

That's too bad. I thought there might be a setting for it somewhere but poking around semi-randomly in the Settings dialog and the
AdContent Preferences page hasn't turned it up. It does work for me, and I hear 1922 was a pretty good year for gaming.
-
From an app called "WiFi anal
iyzer":Talk about confusing... "adapter not found, we can't continue, here's the adapter we found, would you like to continue?". And it worked fine after I clicked the button.
I assume it's because I had used it before with a different adapter. So what it means is "This particular adapter that I looked for first was not found".

I just came out of a meeting now, where it was mentioned that our company was fined. We sent out communications about changes to people's insurance policies but we got a "could not be delivered" reply for some of the e-mails. The fine was because we didn't follow up on these, even though we were aware that the policyholders did not receive the communication. The very first suggestion made (in jest, I admit) was: "Why don't we just stop monitoring the mailbox, then we wouldn't know if they received the communication or not".

Interlingua is at least somewhat comprehensible without actually knowing it. Unlike a certain other constructed language that is frequently discussed here.
Filed under: We should (?) speak interlingua in (to?) this forum,

I thought that was explicitly why the no-reply@ mailbox exists?

I think we both replied at the same time, so now I see the entire Funny Stuff thread under replies
Plus footer weirdness too. Obviously a refresh fixed it.
-
@kazitor it's a variation of the "last post in a thread with a linked reply causes the beginning of the reply thread to enumerate" glitch.

It's a very interesting example.
To everyday people, it looks like a very minor oversight.
To us, it screams "what kind of development practices and QA allow that to happen in a major operating system?!"EDIT: I'm not talking about the misalignment, which is sloppy but has a somewhat reasonable explanation here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/a61yu9/literally_uncalculateable_explained/
I'm taking about the fact that the right edge of the square root button is slanted.

@Tsaukpaetra Vector shapes and rounding errors! :)
As you resize that window, you'll see the top row resize slightly differently than the ones below it (sometimes being lined up perfectly) and eventually pop over to be vertical on the left. I don't know what unholy nesting of ButtonBoxPanelGridRowPanelPanels they used to make it work, but it doesn't take much to see something like this. After all, you're giving up control to get scaling and rearranging when resizing.

The comment spam queue on my WordPress site does a flyout preview of the target site whenever you mouse-over a URL...a URL that belongs to a comment the system has already determined is spam...
Good luck getting the mouse cursor over to the "Delete All Spam" button without accidentally triggering page loads on a whole bunch of spam sites! Good job, WordPress!
