Just realized I derped that. Should be "never be free" (or "never get free").

Apparently you can be a Senior Writer at ESPN without actually understanding the English language. And be an editor for the Senior Writers with the same limitation...
-
@izzion Is that not what he meant? Prone means lying on the ground, right?
Disclaimer: I know little to nothing about sports and sport terminology.
-
@LB_
Right, prone means laying on the ground (most commonly on one's stomach). Except the retaliation beanballs are being thrown at stationary (unmoving) targets who are standing in the batter's box.
-
Prone also means having a tendency or inclination, as in:
Those who fail to learn from History are prone to fail their History majors.

So looking for furnishings for new flat.
I find this wonderful doormat.
I really want a doormat that says
WELCOME MErCOWE
on it.
-
Meanwhile I am baffled at the carpets like this.
Why the fuck would I buy a carpet that looks like I've been jumping up and down on it with muddy boots?
-
Why the fuck would I buy a carpet that looks like I've been jumping up and down on it with muddy boots?
So you can jump up and down on it with muddy boots withtout it showing?
-
@Zecc the theory's good but actual dirty boots look different to the fake dirty in this 'faux-distressed' look so it looks even worse as a result.
-
@Arantor That's a faux look? I just thought it was a mat that people had cleaned their boots on. ;)

Clown Vomit now comes in rug editions.

Clown Vomit in definitive rug edition.

More Clown Vomit Rugs.
would want this in their house/flat/living space?!?!
-
would want this in their house/flat/living space?!?!
@aliceif, obviously. :P
And the second one actually looks kinda nice on that dark, wooden floor.
-
@Arantor That would be good for a mud room where I bathe the dogs... Well, except I'd keep trying to clean it!

These two look like they're going for a quilted look, which explains the colors and patterns.

@Arantor
So that you don't have to wash it after jumping up and down on it with muddy boots, obv

@Arantor
Don't buy a “Welcome” mat. It counts as an invitation to vampires, allowing them to bypass the usual restriction against entering a home.

From the CADT documentation department:

@asdf By contrast, here's their US site:
Step 1: Type dominos.com into your browser's address bar. Get redirected to www.dominos.com
Step 2: Nice straightforward header:Step 3: Clicking "sign in" gets me:
The only thing I ever get from Dominos is their pasta bread bowl. The pizza is crap; I could get equally good frozen pizza from the grocery store for cheaper (granted, I'd need to cook it myself then, but sticking a frozen pizza in the oven is not the pinnacle of cooking effort).
I prefer Domino's pizza to any from any of the other chains I've tried. I think the big points for me are their seasoned crust for the hand-tossed pizzas and that they put more sauce on the pizza so it's not just a dry (or greasy) hunk of bread and toppings.
Homemade and frozen are both cheaper, but a little more work (though, yes, baking a frozen pizza is hardly difficult at all; it does take longer, though).

I know a bit extra line height is good, but I think you're overdoing it guys!
Also, above the first word there is another half screen of whitespace. Replying to the mail also inserts the massive gap between lines in my text when I press enter.

@Atazhaia How are you finding Mint, btw?
-
@Tsaukpaetra The only correct answer is "refreshing".

In some cases, when the build fails
Build this project "msbuild.exe projectname.sln" successfully

It's definitely refreshing to return to whenever I've been using Windows!
@Tsaukpaetra And yeah, I like Mint. It's a nice dist. Got good defaults, sane window managers, and even an option as to if I want it Ubuntu-based (along with Ubuntu conveniences, and Ubuntu NIH brainworms), or just go for Debian-based and lose the Ubuntu stuff, but still have the Mint feeling. I've been using it since Ubuntu changed to Unity, or as I like to call it: the Modern UI of the Linux world.

Yes. You can keep the everything-is-a-phone interfaces.

I don't always use Linux, but when I do, it's over SSH with no X forwarding.

-
@ben_lubar OK guys, it's official. @ben_lubar is the Most Interesting Programmer in the World.
Filed under: not that that's saying much

@antiquarian I would think the most interesting programmer in the world would use two X.

I think this is an @izzion problem, not a @boomzilla problem.
-
@boomzilla
kind of self-justifying logic is that? the juxtaposition of a lower-case modern literally in response to a quoted post containing upper-case Modern was obviously made to joke about Linux users.Yeesh. You're spending more work justifying your whoosh than just awarding yourself the whoosh and moving on :P

Actually, I'm still bitter about upgrading the OS in my VM and going from KDE4 to KDE5. It hasn't matured enough yet to not suck.

Yes.

Sometimes in Chrome when I open a link in a new window or a new incognito window it will open on a different monitor. What I have discovered is that minimizing the source window and then restoring it will make it appear on that other monitor, then you can drag it back to the original monitor you wanted it on in the first place and the problem is fixed. No idea how that even happens...

Guy tries to report a bug to MS...

@cartman82 Why was he trying to submit a bug through customer service instead of through the proper channels?
