wait...... we have a custom Javascript box now too?!
Out that would be awesome!
That would be a great way to permanently fuck over users if there was ever an XSS bug.
so you're saying.......

@ben_lubar as opposed to just slightly fucking them over if there was an XSS bug, with CSS like
[component="post"][data-uid="1"] { display: none; } [data-property="customCSS"] { color: transparent !important; overflow: hidden !important; height: 0px !important; padding: 2em !important; }

I suppose it's a good way to keep them coming back for more.

point. we've rather crossed that bridge already.

Not sure if this is the right place for this comment. But I just discovered that users now have the ability to plonk users. This is great! I have sorely felt the need for this feature since I joined ~10 years ago, and have felt that the lack of this feature kept away a lot of people. The people who post a lot on TDWTF tend to have "strong stomachs". That is, they are the type of people who would feel more at home among convicts or longshoreman than among church goers. The ability for users to block users makes it a more pleasant place for all.

WTF is that colloquialism??!!? Sounds vaguely sexual...
-
@tsaukpaetra I thought the same thing.
I am weirder than I thought...

It goes back to the days of Usenet. Usenet clients had a "kill" list, colloquially known as "plonking" someone. "Your mother wears army boots!" Plonk.

Yeah - useful onebox, going by the preview..
Plonk is a Usenet jargon term for adding a particular poster to one's kill file so that poster's future postings are completely ignored. It was first used in 1989, and by 1994[1] was a commonly used term on Usenet. To publicly repudiate a poster, it is added to one's reply or is simply used as the entire, one-word reply. It is also used as a verb, as in: "I plonked that idiot". The word is an example of onomatopoeia, intended to humorously represent the metaphorical sound[2] of the plonked user hitting the bottom of the kill file (imagined perhaps as a bit bucket).
Happened quite frequently on
alt.sysadmin.recovery
when it was actually busy, normally used when idiots found out how exactly to wave the chicken to allow them to post.

No, just not ready for a proper yet.

Update scheduled for 23:00 UTC.
Highlights
- The composer no longer automatically opens drafts that are already open in another tab.
OMG thank you this was bothering me so much you don't even know...

Dude, if "untoward language of ruffians" is going to fuck up your delicate sensibilities, then you might add fucking well dump the entire forum into your shit list now and fuck off to The Wiggles Fan Club website or something.

Hmm, I wonder who upvoted and downvoted this post...
-
@ben_lubar
Needs more @boomzilla upvoters

Needs more @boomzilla upvotersIf @boomzilla upvotes something and somebody else downvotes it, it shows @boomzilla in both slots to non-staff.
-
@ben_lubar
Of that I'm fully aware. I just think it's only fair that if @boomzilla is going to get the blame for his alt accounts' downvotes, he should get the credit for the alt accounts that upvoted as well

Forum is hosed for me.
-
@ben_lubar
On a more serious note, I'm both proud and a little bit disappointed that this feature didn't ship with any obvious information leaks about the boomzilla alt accounts.

Just to follow up, this is https://github.com/benchpressjs/benchpressjs/issues/73 and I've added a shim to the header, which @Lorne-Kates has confirmed is working.

I am ok with that. Good on you @julianlam
-
@polygeekery Thanks but the real credit should go to An-dz who put in the actual legwork to get it working.
We'd been showing NodeBB in a "reduced functionality" mode that didn't let you reply, and while not ideal, it was something we were okay to keep pending a better solution in the future.
The future is now.

You're the lead, right? You deserve credit also. We know -ahem- a person who would not allow such a thing on their forum project.
Good on @An-dz also. Tell him we said thanks.

We're Canadian, so we're a bunch of socialist assholes who can't effectively elect a leader.
Just kidding, it's a team of three (Andrew & Baris are the other two), and we split the blame equally.

awesome! so I should be able to log into nodebb without JS enabled?
I might try my hand at hacking on nodebb too, if I can muster the courage to work with node...

A hearty ha ha then, as I flip @julianlam the finger from up here in Markham, with our free parking and better food!
-
@lorne-kates I don't live in Toronto, goodness, forum software doesn't pay that well.
I live in Burlington.

In all fairness, neither can your neighbours south of the border.

Elona? They "elected" this guy:

He said he'd save them all, but so far he's just created a bunch of zombie slaves and a refugee crisis.

@ben_lubar I thought GW2 was supposed to be a a game in a fantasy setting, not exactly like real life but with fantasy powers.

You're getting confused. The ones south of the border can't elect an effective leader

That's quite the drive. Unless GO train?

Almost. One major block north of me is all farmland. I'm sure it'll eventually be bulldozed and turned into housing, because who needs to actually eat food, amiright?
I honestly wouldn't object to buying a house a touch further north, on a large plot of land. (Insert so-much-yard-for-dead-hookers joke here)

For adrenaline and high-risk fun, you can either go to the Markham Airport and go skydiving, or you can go to Pacific Mall and drive in their parking lot.

So, Canadians...
Should I pronounce the t in Montreal, yes or no?
