@accalia Indeed. Either they die due to malnutrition if pure house cats or they'll go search for a new home.
-
@Rhywden Or they'll slowly and methodically eat the baby rabbit they've just brought in from outside, starting with the unmistakable sound of a small skull being crushed and finishing with only a dissected-out but otherwise intact caecum full of rabbit shit left in the middle of the kitchen floor for the staff to deal with.

This particular scenario is disturbingly well fleshed out.
Are you feeling okay? Do we have to be concerned? Should we call someone?

Have you never owned an indoor/outdoor cat?
One of ours once brought in a still-dying rabbit that was larger than the cat itself.

Pearls before swine, I say!
Bah, humbug!

@izzion the vegans I know are nice people but they're freaking annoying to cater for when you're having meals together regularly.
And no, the fact that they're implicitly accusing me of murder doesn't help, even if they're too polite to say it to my face.
-
@flabdablet said in In other news today...:
I've never found any reasonable basis for hostility toward vegans per se. What's yours?
You can't subside solely on a diet of hating furries.

The fact they keep on mentioning it. It is a form of virtue signalling i.e. they think they are better than you.
-
@anotherusername said in In other news today...:
Christians generally won't inform you that they're a Christian within the first 5 minutes of meeting them.

@RaceProUK said in In other news today...:
More likely, you only ever hear the complainers, because they're the only ones likely to speak out in the first place.
Gah, just because that's like, the most logical and reasonable explanation. Yeesh.

Animal by-products.
If that's what you want to call it, but I disagree. The milk is the product, it's not a by-product of keeping the cow for something else.
@Lorne-Kates said in In other news today...:
A vegetarian will eat milk and eggs. A vegan won't.
I am aware. Also honey. Reading back over my post I editing out a short list of these things.
@Lorne-Kates said in In other news today...:
Neither will eat animal fat.
I am also aware of that, and also aware that money isn't for eating.

Luddites. Old people. Paranoids.

-
@remi said in In other news today...:
Another article I've seen on this topic was mentioning Hindus, many of which apparently avoid all cow-derived products (including leather etc.). So they would have a legitimate reason to complain about something that isn't for eating...
That's perfectly legit and I understand completely. What I don't understand is why someone would say "I don't eat meat!" and think that explains an objection to non-eating stuff having animal in it.
-
@anonymous234 said in In other news today...:
Because we want to keep the power of the government somewhat limited.
Hey, look! There's one of those paranoids I mentioned!

Old people don't use currency, they still write checks and it takes them 25 minutes to get it right.

The True Vegan is against all animal products including fur, leather and anything else made from animals, not just food.
But since both white and brown sugar contains animal products, I think with that defination being a true vegan is not easy at all.

Spoiler
Just over half a cow was murdered to create the tallow used in all the £5's that have been produced so far.Or there is at most "0.00007 g of tallow" in each note.

I'm just telling you what they say. Don't eat the messenger.
and also aware that money isn't for eating.
If you snort cocaine with it (an ALL NATURAL PLANT PRODUCT!) then you may ingest a molecule or two of it.
And it's the principal of the matter. If even ONE cow does anywhere in the production chain ANYWHERE then the product is permanently tainted. FOREVER!

Toby Faire, if you murder half a cow, chances are you've murdered an entire cow.

the tallow is a by product of the slaughterhouse.... the cow was already killed to be eatten.

Doesn't matter to a Vegenista that's complaining about the fivers - the cow shouldn't have been killed to begin with.
Especially if other people are going to be eating it.
Now the case for raiding the carcass of a naturally dead cow for tallow OTOH...

@PJH
They really buried the lede with those closing comparisons to some other anti-cruelty petitions.Saving half a cow from the Mint's production of fivers is apparently 50% more important than saving all the elephants of Africa via banning the ivory trade. TIL.
