Also, in Poland, most stations show the logo during the actual program, but not during the commercials or channel ads.
This was always my guess.

Actually, they make some good points. I do think there are ethical issues with sex slave robots, particularly with how it could change one's relationships with other people. The headline is obviously correct and amusing, but El Reg actually had some good points hidden in there! :shocked-face:

@boomzilla I quite liked this video on a similar topic:

But see also the other videos in his series, as several videos were cut from a single interview so he refers back to prior videos a few times. This is the playlist:

More like a warning about water causing drowning, which is the result of the human getting a bit too intimate with the water for a bit too long because he's dumb.

“It’s taken me three days and three trips to three different Sainsbury’s to track down the courgettes essential to the success of tonight’s pasta bake,” said Charlotte Owen in Nottingham.
“It could have ended in disaster and another take away, thus ruining January’s healthy eating regime,” she added.

Well, deep in the article, they did mention that many of the properties involved in these cases are properties where the ownership has fragmented many many times because of un-willed inheritance, and basically the process is designed to get a sale that will benefit the current owners, instead of simply letting the properties get seized by the state for a tax lien. But I'm sure Mr. Zuckerberg is also looking at potential personal benefit from excising the swiss cheese from his property.

Courgettes are never essential to the success of anything.

@dkf whatever's behind it, obviously

Providing you don't move your screen too frequently, it should be simple to replace the logo with part of a photograph of what's behind it.
Or, you could use a photograph of the inside of the screen! I'm a genious!

Anything at all! Maybe just a blank square. Ideally, they could guess what was underneath it and just show that, or at least match
the color to the surroundings.

Ugh, seriously?
This is one of the oldest "rich scumbag" tricks in the book. Literally: It's specifically denounced in The Book:
Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!
That's how long rich scumbags have been doing this.

- Are you not logged into your Google account (that has autoplay disabled)?
- Are you using the private mode for your browser?
- Did you accidentally double-click the autoplay toggle?

That's three "noes".
Wait, option 1 is already a negative, so I guess that's a "yes" and two "noes". I wasn't logged into the account, is what I'm saying.

@Zecc Hmmm,,,
- Did you wait until the page completely loaded before attempting to toggle autoplay?

I finally replaced my 2010 mac with a new one. I've never really used the function keys, and esc is for people who've never understood the power of C-g, so I bought the one with the fancy touch bar. I figured that I'll either ignore it or use it to play nyancat while idle. Or something.
Worked from home a few days yesterweek and thought to myself "Wouldn't it be nice to actually do something with the touch bar?". So I cobbled together a few functions in emacs that would let me access my daily planner, gnus (mail), and erc (#thedailywtf). A second invocation pops me back to where I were so I can quickly check in on todo/mail/wtdwtf and then back to where I was. Mapped these functions to some unused keys (Hey! I can map them to the function keys!), and used BetterTouchTool to add the keys with some nice icons to the touch bar and voila! A whole new faster-than-before workflow emerges.
Today: Sitting in my office, annoyed by the fact that my new keys are almost out of reach so I have to use the old way of jumping between buffers. Then I remembered my keyboard mappings.
FWP: For the first time since I left the old VT100 terminal I actually use the function keys. And I don't have any. :-(

I set mine to the mode that ignores the application specific stuff and shows the normal function keys by default and the F keys when I press Fn. Barely notice the difference between that and actual keys - especially for Esc as it still just requires the same jab in the general location that the physical key does on my work MBP.
-
@loopback0 Actually the esc key is wider now since you don't really have to hit the key...
My biggest problem in the beginning was that I apparently have the habit of resting my right middle and ring finger somewhere near F12 while typing (I need to work on my finger positions) so I kept muting and unmuting all the time. BetterTouchTool helped me with that because that part of the touch bar is now empty.
... Maybe I should put a key there just to teach me to move down my fingers...
-

BetterTouchTool
I didn't know this even existed, so will check it out when I get home.
-
@loopback0 I started using it to remap a few keys on my desktop keyboard:
- fn-left to home
- fn-right to end
- fn-up to pgup
- fn-down to pgdn
and with the new mac because I kept hitting the wrong key:
- right shift to up
-
@Mikael_Svahnberg I used to use Karabiner for similar remappings for the Windows keyboard I use at work, but had to disable it when I updated VirtualBox and there was incompatibility.
-
@loopback0 So did I but it doesn't work on Sierra or later, and Karabiner-Elements only allow single modification keys so it is not sufficient...

Make it open your audio player in hidden mode to a random audio file so if you mess it up multiple times you get 12 bohemian rhapsodies and a windows 95 startup sound overlapping.

Did you try the tool for better touching, yourself? I heard Apple does not recommend it for older versions of iFap.

...and since the oneboxing is retarted, I'll quote some bits:
One said on Twitter: "Just watched a cooking programme where Mary Berry put white wine in Bolognese. Turned it off. #shudders."
#maryberry#bolognese ragu ??What's that.... white wine.....double cream herbs 🙈 that's breaking every Italian kitchen rule @CookCarluccio 😫
In response to the cream addition, one viewer said: "Shocked and appalled about Mary Berry adding double cream to her bolognese."
But maybe they have a point. It's not like there's an official Italia-
In fact, bolognese – or tagliatelle al ragu – is so important to Italy that the region’s Chamber of Commerce asked the Italian Academy of Cooking to come up with an official recipe in 1982. The result was a simple sauce, which only contained beef, pancetta, onions, carrots, celery, tomato paste, white wine and milk.
Well, that settles that then.

I'm not personally affected by this one, but apparently marijuana is considered a more severe drug than meth or cocaine by the US government.

Also, all of the legal marijuana in the country is grown by one dude at the university of mississippi. That stuff you can buy in colorado is illegal under federal law.
