git merged the broken version of the code I wrote with the fixed version so both versions were in the file. Although this one is mostly 's fault due to the branch-and-then-merge-and-rebase-and-force-push-a-lot development strategy.

Red boob was fixed by using a vendor-specific CSS property that was added as a non-vendor-specific property in Firefox 29.
Red boob didn't need ANY vendor-specific CSS to work in the first place.

My wife had had her eye on a new bed from IKEA for a while, and on Saturday morning she saw that they had it on special, $140 off the normal price. Since she had to be in the general vicinity of the store anyway that afternoon, we went and got it. Took our old bed apart and put the headboard of the new one together that night, figured I'd put the rest together on Sunday.
Shortly after beginning I noticed that the first pieces I'd put together were visibly coming apart, with the bolts pulling away from the cam locks that should have been holding them in place. I went to redo them and one side worked OK, but on the other side when I went to re-tighten the cam locks both of them made a small popping sound and then rotated freely, apparently not engaging the head of the bolt at all.
Fair enough, they're probably busted. The problem is, how do you get them out to replace them? I contacted customer service and they said to just bring the board in and they'll replace it, which is fair enough, I guess.
But I'm betting that since they're just crappy cheap plastic cam locks, I'll continue to have problems with them throughout the assembly. In the meantime, our mattress is on the floor...
(I did once have another piece of self-assembly furniture that had problems with cheap cam locks, although in that case it was the bolts - tightening the cam locks caused about a third of the bolts to snap. At that time we couldn't find replacement cam locks at any of the major hardware suppliers, but we eventually found one small place that stocked them. We repeatedly visited them, each time buying out their entire supply, until we finally got enough to finish the job.)

buying out their entire supply
At that point the store should have said, "Holy crap! Well Geeze! How many did you need? " and then offer to put in a bigger order for you.
Then again, probably not happening at any but small mom and pop stores...
-
@Tsaukpaetra This was indeed a tiny store. Their entire supply was like 2-3 packets (of 2, I think). I don't recall precisely because this was probably 15 years ago; I think we did ask about doing a bulk order the first time we went there, but they either weren't able or didn't want to.
-

Methinks the latter. Clearly your worth as a satisfied customer was evaluated to be unlikely to decrease from their refusal.
-
@Tsaukpaetra True enough. When it was the only place we'd found that had the thing we needed - we'd obviously be going back there as often as necessary. Actually, though, I think they just didn't want to be stuck with 15 packets of a slow-moving item if we found them somewhere else in the meantime.

Curious. Every time I've built that sort of thing from IKEA they've used metal pieces for those bits that hold the structure together. The only places I can remember seeing plastic (other than for decorative purposes) were in the parts that held the laths in place beneath the mattress, and those shouldn't be getting a lot of lateral force.
-
@dkf I've noticed over the last few years (we tend to get quite a bit from IKEA) an increasing tendency to use cheap plastic pieces in place of metal ones where they can get away with it. I'm not a big fan of the trend; I'd rather pay $10 more and get quality parts.

Then you're not IKEA's target market

As it turned out, when my wife went in to get the replacement cam locks (as well as a piece of dowel that was missing), there was a fair bit of misunderstanding of the problem due to the fact that the current instructions for that item now specify 14 metal cam locks and 16 plastic ones, rather than just 30 plastic ones, with the metal ones to be used throughout the bed frame (the plastic ones are for the storage drawers).
Once we got the confusion cleared up, she stocked up on the metal cam locks, I printed out the new instructions, and now it's all good :)

@boomzilla So the short answer is, "they don't"? Disappoint.

You can increase the width of your browser by three pixels.

What space? Doesn't Windows just upscale the DPI anyway?

The desktop yes, and also apps that have high DPI support enabled (which includes all UWP apps)

So then the end result is you're not actually getting more space, so the initial comment doesn't make sense in any meaningful manner...

@zecc It's a setting in windows explorer somewhere. Hide the _files dir, show it but rename/delete together, or keep separate.

I'm toying with the idea of buying a Dyson V8, which is a cordless vacuum cleaner.
As it's pretty pricey I had a look at the alternatives and found this one
Yes, that's Ready with three y's and an apostrophe. This might actually be the worst thing Germany have ever done.

Those are a good idea, and those Bosch vacuums are quite good (got one).
Their advertising… not so great. ;)
-
@dkf Isn't it a problem that they're less powerful than a traditional model? Then again that may be different in the US anyway, since you're probably not going to attach a 2200W vacuum to a 110V socket.
-
@pleegwat said in The Official First World Problems Thread™:

Not that I've noticed, since I don't need full power all that often. Also, the cordless ones are much easier to get into tricky places.

Irrelevant. The US just uses higher currents; device power draws are pretty similar. And for cordless devices, you're really just recharging a battery inside the device when it is plugged in, and that's using much lower voltage wiring.
