@aliceif You're mean today

For those that have known me - not that they would be able to connect my WTF persona with their experience of me. Because, whilst it might reflect their "reality", it doesn't reflect mine. Besides it is quite poignant - the Alt Text ('Automating' comes from the roots 'auto-' meaning 'self-', and 'mating', meaning 'screwing') sort of makes the point.

I'm sure it would if it didn't get eaten by the Onebox.

@loopback0 Sorted :)
I was not sure about the Alt Text persisting so I posted then edited. But you was too quick for me.
-
@loose when I try to automate, it generally just works. Or I give up and go back to doing it manually. But usually, it works.
For instance, I used to take a chart such as this one:
And try to put those numbers from the lower chart into a spreadsheet. But I wrote a userscript which does this:
It finds the position of the hash mark for the highest value on the Y axis, reads the number, and uses it to calculate the heights of the bars on the chart. Then it puts those heights in a textarea so they can be selected, copied, and pasted.
Oh, and I should mention, reading the number would be easy if the individual digits were identical bitmaps each time, but you'll notice that they're not... in fact, just looking at the left and right axis labels (which should all be the same font size) there are a dozen different pixel formations that represent 0:

That put me in mind of a sprite bitmap for an animation, thought about what it would look like, then was reminded of this I saw the other day (no clue if it's been on here yet...):
Backstory
http://www.deathbytoys.com/2016/02/introducing-fog-action-figure.html:
I probably should’ve started by saying this is quite possibly the stupidest thing I’ve ever made. That being said, at no point during production did I say to myself, “This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever made. I should stop.” Instead, I said, “This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever made. I should keep going.”
Edit - @administrators (I'm in the pub and not in a fit state to poke around) - the Firefox summary/details shim appears to have stopped working.

It seems to be working for me.

@blakeyrat Do you ever stop assuming that someone that disagrees with a woman has anything to do with games?
That's fox-logic for you.
-
@coldandtired .... Wow. I would expect this level of quality from junior high maybe, but University?

Hmm - not for me; two different computers, both running FF46.0 under Ubuntu 14.04/64bit.
Edit: And forcing a refresh of the page and it starts working. Wonder if it's related to the needing to refresh the page to post bug...

I consider myself a Trekkie but it's likely to be several years before I get as far as watching Voyager. I just finished Enterprise today. TOS next.

@dse
Running away from things you can't pronounce the name of can be a good rule of thumb.

@dse The commentary is the funniest part.

@Buddy TIL a new word for porn wannabes....

It's no coincidence that a video game about augmented humans took place in this building.

@blakeyrat Extra points for including that Captain Proton episode which I can't remember the name of right now. Mulgrew was fucking awesome there.
-
@Onyx Curse of Arachnia? Kiss of Arachnia? Something like that.
The idea of aliens who cross into the holodeck and think it's reality was so goddamned stupid. I mean it's a comedy episode, but even by those standards, WTF.

This probably belongs on the "that's just sad" thread, but we don't have one, so: I saw a guy this morning with the PHP elephant tattooed on the back of his leg.
-
@FrostCat It's somewhere between Funny Stuff, Bad Ideas and Quixotic Ideas. But we probably do need a 'that's just sad' thread.

@dse Now I really want to know what would've happened if it caught her.
I'm picturing
Also, I don't think she's trying to take a selfie. I think she's probably trying to get proof because she knows nobody will believe a crazy story about getting chased halfway down the block by a rabid squirrel without proof.

@Lorne-Kates it's still there for me. Is something blocking it where you are?

Nope, I can see the full tweet if I click the link. But no onebox or js console errors:

Something you have is blocking some js from running or loading. The view you have is the without javascript version. The native twitter formatting and stuff is done client side.

Presumably it's because he's using Firefox −∞

something something argle-bargle javacript blockers something self-inflicted blah blah neo-Luddite etc.

@FrostCat On the other hand, tonight I stopped a staff member's Hotmail from freezing at random, by using Adblock Plus to block a Skype integration script that MS insists on wedging into every Outlook Web Access page.

How is my firefox version effecting the server-side Onebox?

The server-side iframely just loads some JavaScript and a fallback thing. You're seeing the fallback thing.

@da-Doctah Is that a 2-litre bottle of mouthwash?
