Are you a gullible idiot who is easily separated from their money by blindly following trends and misinformation? Good news, Bullfrog Power is for you! Why pay your electricity provider $X / month for access to the grid, when you can pay us $X *1.25 / month for access to that exact same grid. Because you're, as previously mention, a gullible idiot.
I know, I know, dunking of Bullshit Energy is nothing new. But the fact that their entire customer base is self-selecting for gullible idiots who have no concept of facts or reality, and who easily fall for misinformation scams-- well, I bet there's going to be a HUGE ROI on this targetted gem:

My team just got our latest release into UAT, on time - this is the release that's been in crunch time since before we got the previous release to UAT, a couple of months ago. So we're going out for drinks today to celebrate.
I dislike 'going for a drink' intensely but I usually go along to these things for the sake of maintaining diplomatic relations. And this particular session is a big deal, planned for weeks, everyone's expected to be there.
Problem is, someone decided it would be a great idea to start at 3pm. That is, someone who's actually employed by this organisation and not by the contracting agency I work for. They work flextime, but I have to have at least 40 hours on my timesheet every week. If I have to leave two and a half hours early, and I put that on my timesheet, I have to work late tomorrow and Friday and probably miss my regular Friday social event that I actually want to do. All for spending several hours pretending to enjoy myself while I'd rather be doing almost anything else.
Seeing as this is a semi-mandatory team event, do you think it's ok to put the earlier of my usual leaving time or the time I leave the pub on my timesheet as finishing time?
-

Personally, I'd log your usual leaving time, but since I have no experience working as a contractor via an agency, others may have better advice.
-
@carrievs What will the Funky Dayglo Mould people do if you don't have 40 hours on your timesheet? Is it a warning for first offence or an immediate sanction? Isn't the declared time just about how much you get on the low hourly over the base salary?
I'd probably risk putting your normal finishing time, but it depends on your workplace's relationship with the agency to a certain extent. You could also ask your contact with the agency, but that risks having them know about your technically against the rules plan so would depend on whether you think they would shop you for entering misleading timesheets

I have no idea, honestly. Never tested it.
We don't get hourly any more, it's daily. At best I'd probably lose half a day's 'bonus'.

Well as I understand it, if my line manager (or at the moment, whatever random senior person I can find, since my manager's away) approves my timesheet with 40 hours on, Funky Dayglo Mould (good one) put in a bill for 40 hours/1 week of my time. They won't know or care if 2.5 of those hours were spent in a pub, as long as the client company are happy to say I was 'working'.
I've done it before, with permission - at a previous contract I was told by my line manager to put my usual lunch break down when we went out for team lunches that took a lot longer, and on one occasion here I was told to go home early and put my usual finishing time, when I wasn't feeling well. It's just I'm anxious about asking.
-
@carrievs It's difficult when you don't have your normal line manager (who you presumably have a decent relationship with) and have to ask someone you're not as familiar with.
Are there other contractors in the same boat? It might be easier for a bunch of you to go together and say "will you approve our timesheets if we all say the pub is working time?"
-

Two others, but one's on leave and if he comes it'll be on his own time, and the other is a guy I don't find approachable (nothing wrong with him, I'm scared of most people). I reckon I'll manage. Thanks for the help.

In that case it's definitely a team-building and training event, focusing on the outcomes and lessons learned from the recent Release
In much the same vein as the Mandatory Staff Training Event that a former head of department used to schedule for an entire afternoon the last working day before Christmas - a drunken affair that she, as a devout teetotal methodist never actually attended, but was more than happy to turn a blind eye to.

If I didn't comprehend why that's so, I would accuse the devs of being lazy.
As it is, I'm half tempted to just say "fuck it!" and script an ffmpeg command to string up all the videos in the streaming assets folder and just sit back and watch.
Probably the most interesting thing I've observed so far is the woman's apparently differing drink preferences.

For type-setting, U+2019 (right single quotation mark) is the preferred symbol for both apostrophe and closing-single quotes (an inverted comma). The confusion is the straight tick mark U+0027 which came about because of the limitations of typewriters.

That response isn't typesetting-specific.
