Does anyone want to help me mod the MSI package so it doesn't do an OS check before installing?
Install Orca or InstEdit (like Orca on steroids). Either of those will allow you to directly edit an msi.

I managed to pull through without it.
Turns out, in order to make secure connections you need things like ncrypt.dll, ntas1.dll and ncryptsslp.dll.
Now packaging all my research into a nice little WinBuilder package...
Here's to hoping....
Fscking WTF What is wrong with you?!?!

Nothing, just forgetting that in order to write to the registry apparently you need to open it first. Doi!

Yeah, no idea when this became a thing... But, PIE! (I swear my company is trying to fatten us up. Maybe they are the real aliens!)edit: 1 pecan, 1 apple. Yum.

@ben_lubar Has a single person on this entire website, apart from you and boomzilla maybe, ever thought we trust the nodebb devs to test changes sufficiently that we can do daily updates without breaking things?
Or have you just decided to backslide into this mess again? Why are weekly updates so unpalatable to you guys?

status REALLY frustrated.
I was just editing a fill-in PDF with Acrobat DC. Just upgraded from Acrobat 8. Every single work flow I've used for the last N years has been broken. And they still haven't fixed stupid UI issues like double clicking an item should open it for editing - Nooooo, have to select then click Edit. And a list of fields with checkboxes? The ONLY fucking way to select the goddamn things is with a mouse click. Are you fucking serious???? Just spent 3 hours doing a task that should take 15 minutes. (Next time will be quicker - hopefully - as long as I remember the new work flow)
Now to relax with walking the dog and go to bed. grrrr.

@Gąska Read the explanation makes it clearer that this is just an attempt to misname all the 50 states.
Silly indeed, but not necessarily worse or worst.
-
@Gąska Half of those read like there was zero effort made e.g. 'Spanish Maine' (why not 'Maize'?) and 'That other one' ('India' would be better).
-
@RaceProUK It's marginally better than the UK one from a few days ago

@Jaloopa all you have to do is add like two lines to the file. The folding thing has addons, but is also easy. As long as that's all that addon does, it could be useful in the future.

Status: Dear internet: When your advice on how to not screw myself trying to get VARCHAR2 data out of a LONG, your messages to not use the LONG datatype do not help, and in fact, just make me more angry at the DBAs that are lazy enough to not force business to convert the damn data to a non-deprecated data type.
LONGs are horribly annoying, but in my codebase there's nothing to be done about them. They're all from USER_TAB_PARTITIONS.

Status: Got CivV a while ago
Finished the tutorials and started playing a real (single-player) game. CivV is fun, but it poses some problems for people with high OCD and even the slightest knowledge of IRL geography.
In my current game, the civilizations are Siam (me), India (under Gandhi), "America" (led by George Washington), Persia (led by Darius I), Egypt (under Ramesses II [sic.]), and, until I conquered it, the Aztec Empire under Montezuma. The city-states consist of Singapore, Ragusa, Brussels, Helsinki, Stockholm, Dublin, Lhasa, Almaty and Geneva (and maybe more I haven't discovered, yet).
The OCD problems come from, in addition to the temporal unreality all these civilizations existing simultaneously (starting in ~3000 BC and continuing into the 21st century (unless conquered or the game ends before then)), the geography does not match reality. At all.
Siam, "America," India, the Aztec Empire, Singapore, Ragusa (Italy), and Almaty (Kazakhstan) are all on the same large land mass. Stockholm is, reasonably, on an island in the far north. The volcano of Krakatoa (Indonesia) is between Stockholm and Brussels. Egypt is between Brussels and Geneva (which has an attitude of hostility). And Lhasa (Tibet) is between Geneva and Helsinki.
