Status: My hours of slaving last night and this morning resulted in a "works right away" turn up for our new SIP trunk \o/ \o/
Aside from the minor detail that the new provider doesn't actually have our account set up properly, so incoming calls aren't coming in and outgoing calls get a nice lady telling us the account is not active. But, you know, not my fault not my problem
-
Well, ok, I guess teeeeeechnically, after they activated the account correctly, the inbound calling didn't work because I forgot to update the firewall to account for a last minute change. But since it was their break first, I'm counting it as a one-try on my side :P

Status: Dear internet: When your advice on how to not screw myself trying to get VARCHAR2 data out of a LONG, your messages to not use the LONG datatype do not help, and in fact, just make me more angry at the DBAs that are lazy enough to not force business to convert the damn data to a non-deprecated data type.

Status: Trying to convince someone that since the legacy system takes exactly the same values in two different fields, just because we're only supporting one of them for one field (For the next year maybe, but eventually we'll want it!) and all of them for the other, that doesn't mean we should declare separate
enum

Status: Decided against joining a gym, and bought half an exercise bike instead (no handlebars).
I've learned the following:
- Exercise bikes are very heavy, even when it's only half a bike
- The instructions could have been in a better order
- The screwdriver/allen-key hybrid is too big to do one of the screws properly
- You don't need handlebars for an exercise bike
- If I'm wearing a skater skirt, it covers the computer, and I can't read it

That's not where you're supposed to sit.

Status: Fighting some other team's unit tests, which are written in some kind of nice-looking-on-first-glance-but-horrifying-close-up almost natural language script, which gets translated into awful code which does not output the messages of exceptions thrown and creates null reference exceptions.
So far I've managed to get some of the hard-coded-but-target-specific stuff into app.config mergy goodness, so it hasn't been a complete failure.

The computer's attached to the front of the saddle.

Status: Just got texts from a friend who likes playing with resin who thinks we can just mold an electric guitar and cast a new one. I sent him a link to a very cheap $80 Stratocaster body as a pattern to begin with, and he was surprised they were that expensive. He also doesn't understand why the bridge cavity can't be molded into the original part and must be routed out later, and thinks a set-in neck can just be shoved into the resin before it hardens and all will be well. I predict high levels of hilarity as this continues.
EDIT: I mentioned something about not liking my SG and wanting to sell it, and now he wants to mold it. I'm struggling to get him to understand that that style of guitar is not modular and does not really disassemble.

So you have to look at your crotch the whole time you're exercising? That's a weird design.

Status: Just ordered a new motherboard, case and water cooler. My PC was really annoying me when I would max out all 8 cores on a compile cycle and the fans would ramp up to full speed. Let's see if a 240mm radiator can fix that issue.
All this shit better fit when I move to AM4, or I am going to be pissed come Q1 of next year. The water cooler and the case that is. I would get a new motherboard...

STATUS:
If anyone here is interested, ModDB is having its Mod of the Year contest. It would be awesome if you'd vote for Sins of the Prophets (and I'm sure @ben_lubar's mod game thing could use votes too. You can vote for as many as you want IIRC)

Status: So... trying to get ODBC working in Windows PE with the SQL Server Native Client (11.0).
I'm probably , but I'm reverse engineering the requirements comparing the actions of a DB access using Process Monitor versus what it's (not) doing now.
Everything seems cromulent, except it seems unable to actually open the TCP connection to the target SQL Server. Like, as in, doesn't even attempt it at all.
And of course, Googling "Windows PE ODBC Sql Server Native Client" only gets you results for the installer file, which (apparently) isn't supported in Windows PE .
Ugh.
Does anyone want to help me mod the MSI package so it doesn't do an OS check before installing?

@Tsaukpaetra
it looks like you're trying to install from source. Did you mean to install Linux instead?

Status: Just saw a Japanese youtube ad for Cardfight Vanguard before a video, with two people who must be famous in Japan or something. The guy who won the battle acted in a more cheesy way than a yugioh character.
Funny at least, but easily the least effective targeted ad I've ever seen.
EDIT: Just looked at the ad info at the top right: γγ·γγΌγγ γΌγγΌ (Bushiroad Movie) So, a live action sort of dark looking but hyper exaggerated movie about children's card games. I'm now almost interested. But it's probably an anime movie and they just made a weird ad.
