Stupidly they DON'T have USB OTG and mini-HDMI to HDMI adapters there. Even more stupidly, the only HDMI adapters in stock are $20 and up.

Yeah, and Adafruit's got them for that price, too, but most places are out.
The Micro Center promotion's obviously a loss leader. To discourage people from stocking up, if you buy more than one, each additional is $9.99.
Looks like Windows 10 IoT works on the 3, too, so now I gotta try that. :)

2. $1000? Is that for like a lifetime subscription of daycare? Toddler-years special?#1, no
#2, good thing you won't be breeding. That is the cost for 1 child for one month. I spend about $24K/year on childcare currently.

Did you misspell "live-in all-expenses paid boarding school" wrong? Do your children spend more time there than home?

Really, it is more than half, as you have to earn $36K to spend $24K after the government takes their 1/3 for taxes.

And now you two realize why so many women become stay at home moms until their kids are in kindergarten.

I'm not being an ass. I'm being observant. Windows 10 broke moving-a-window-with-the-keyboard.
So either:
- It's one of those retarded "default settings" things that MS loves to shove into new versions in order to break backwards compatibility, and apologists will insist that you KNOW this
- It's literally broken, a bug
- It was removed-- ie, broken without a fix
-
@Tsaukpaetra said in The Official Status Thread:

It'd be your entire salary if you took the time off to do the childcare yourself.
On one hand, it's insane to the point of unaffordable for some families.
On the other hand, it isn't like daycares are making a massive killing off of that. Thanks to the sue-happy world we live in:
- There will be a MASSIVE insurance policy you have to buy
- You have to do MASSIVE renovations to whatever building you host in, to make it child "friendly"
- There are strict regulations on who can work for you, as far as qualifications. They're paid for having those qualifications.
- There are also strict regulations on the adult-to-child ratio. So the staffing costs are very high
I'd bring up subsidized daycare, but since most people here are American, I'm sure that will start a communist-socialist-chest-puff flame war.

Must be broken in 8 as well, as I just tried it there and it fails as well.
Let me see if I can find a 7 PC and try there as well...
-
@Tsaukpaetra said in The Official Status Thread:

I tried it; it works on mine.
Edit: I just tried it again, and it appears I need to redefine what "works" means. I can use the keyboard to move the window off-screen; however, when I hit Enter to position the window there, the top edge of the window snaps back so that the title-bar (down to about the bottom of the minimize-maximize-close buttons) is off-screen, but the entire content of the window is on-screen. The bottom border remains wherever I positioned it, so the window shrinks vertically, unless that would reduce the window height below some minimum, in which case the bottom border also moves downward.

So obviously for years this hasn't been an issue for yeaers until @Lorne-Kates decided it was. And it didn't happen in 10, it happened two major OS versions ago.
Much observant. No apologies. More dick.

One thousand dollars for one month for one child. I'm guessing that's every day, so we'll say four and a half weeks, weekdays only, so about 22 days of daycare. You mean to tell me it costs fifty bucks a day, for not even half the day? Unless each child is assigned a personal daycare specialist trained and certified by Mary Poppins herself, that's still ridiculous.
-

That's about average for our area. You can spend a lot more. If you spend much less...you are putting your kids in a place that I would not board my dogs.

To make that even worse, it is the same price every month, but this is a Jewish daycare. Jews have a lot of holidays that enter around the harvest, so his daycare will be closed or closing early 1/3-1/2 of this month. September sucks.

I work for what is technically a not-for-profit, and we're very keen on turning an operating profit as that allows us to save money for the future and also mean that we get better access to the bond market. However, we're also very keen on getting those profits from only some of our activities; other parts really shouldn't turn a profit at all due to the way some types of funding are structured. NFP just means that there are no shareholders to pay out to.
