Do you use DVDs still?
I finally stopped looking for those on my laptops. I did put one in my desktop - but somethings wrong there as the system doesn't seem to see it now... And I haven't bothered trying to fix it... (I have a USB DVD too)

In theoryNot to upgrade windows, but yes to upgrade your hardware. I don't think they offer hardware-independent licenses anymore.
ah. right..... that would explain why i keep using the MSDN licences.......
ah well.... if i can sail the high seas to get anime what is not legally available for cash monies in my country i can do it to avoid paying for an operating system every year because i replace a RAM stick..... or plug a new keyboard in..... </hyperbole>
You have full moral right to pirate Windows 10. Honestly the world will be a better place if Microsoft loses all their Windows money and goes bankrupt and dies (nothing personal, they just generally suck at everything).
As for how to do it... just download it from Microsoft's official website. Then install it. Click on "no thanks" when it asks for an activation key. And it will just work.

unless you want to set the background or customize the UI colours....
or get rid of the watermark on the background.
but if you're willing to live with that it will work and you will get updates and everything.

What about Windows 7 Enterprise? I was told that there'd be some problem with USB drivers not working?
If you use legacy boot and not UEFI, and you have USB 2.0 ports available, you should be fine. But if you plug the drive into a USB 3.0 port, the Windows 7 setup environment won't have the necessary drivers to read from disc once it's done booting.
For the setup part that's actually pretty easy, just implant the Windows 7 install.wim into a Windows 10 installer disc. After the install though...

Even here in Silly Valley, 15 seems minimum. And max. Unless you have unlimited.

I believe right clicking an image and selecting "use as background" still bypasses the limitation.
But when would you ever not have a maximized window anyway?

I remember laptops being ridiculously expensive years ago but I thought prices had fallen so it's surprising how many are still in the $1000+ range (for basically having low-end specs and no ports).
You're looking at Apple products?

Rarely. I'll admit....

They should make vacuum cleaners. That would be their first product that doesn't suck

For a very broad definition of "work"

Over here we got 30 paid vacation days. But then my gross income would be considered under the poverty line in Silly Valley, so there's that.

@Tsaukpaetra Nah. Show business folks rarely retire. That's the bane of success driven by energetic personality - they can't rest until dead. Take a back seat, even disappear for a while, come up with some other shit soon enough.

That's probably because we're a little shy..... also we know humans don't take kindly to having their world views challenged....
Most people think we can't talk, so if they heard us talk they would either edit it out of their world view so we didn't talk (this is like uberignoring.... kinda) or they would get mad and angry and take it out on us.
Some people are chill with it and sometimes we even make friends.... but until we know whether you're the "average" human type or the "chill and cool" human type we.... tend not to talk four our safety and the safety of your world view.
(in otherwords, try talking to us first. ask us about our day or some other small talk subject. that will help draw us out and get us talking)
-

Status: Using a plastic shovel and pail to move the desert.
Being in some debt from a business that didn't really work out, I receive alot of loan and consolidation offers. Every single one of them reads like this:
"Hi, ! Consolidate those awful 20% credit cards with financing from us! Just pay our low 15% (autopay) to 30% (otherwise) APR, plus a nominal (5%) origination fee, and you'll be on your way to being debt free in no time!"
It's actually a better deal to balance transfer between credit cards I already have. Or just keep paying them down. Well, at least I pass the check to be approved for preapproved offers now. Do enough people fall for this that mailing them every three weeks is cost effective?
-
@Zenith said in The Official Status Thread:

Alas, that must be so because they keep doing it. (Long term held debt can be very very profitable for the bank.)
