: This is the situation. is sick, so is covering for him, and then is convering for while he is covering for . I just happened to be passing by, so asked me to tell the ones waiting for to go to instead.
So I got to run all the way up from the basement to the top floor and then down again for no reason, because the people were already on the way down. Yay!
I also scared a friend away by making bad puns, while we were talking about Starcraft 1.
Not having the HotS for Kerrigan? Which I may or may not have had for her zerg form...
Edit: The lunch in the cafeteria is also very confusing.
Tomatofied chicken- & vegetables with rice.

Well, not necessarily. Just face downward. The hole is an implementation detail.

I've had that same idea before, too. I always sleep on my back or side, I can't sleep face down, but it could work like that.

"running" Linux on Android is so old school. It's still not very useful and still requires that the host OS is stable and not popping "Google Apps has crashed!" dialogs every millisecond.
Edit: wait, that article is from 2011,we actually have a bootloader shim.

Status: spinlock?
The laptop model that I wanted to buy disappeared. Actually, the seller and all of their listed models disappeared. Supposedly, they were frauds, I don't know. Back to square one.
Laptop shopping sucks. It seems impossible to get the feature set that I want in this no-ports-and-no-media age.
Ideally, I wanted FHD (1920x1080), 256MB+ SSD, DVD drive, DVI/DisplayPort, AMD graphics, separate "mouse" buttons, SD card reader, and Windows 7/10 Pro. It looks like I have to pick just one or a very limited selection of two or three (but not the two or three where I could fix everything else after the fact).
Would I be better off building a micro-ITX PC or giving up and buying a Mac Book with Windows running in a virtual machine?

I have one too! It still works, and has the custom tab label "Music". Used in Pocket PC long ago...
-
@Zenith I'd go for Micro-ITX build. Any baseline build already completes your checklist (well, with the exception of SD card reader; external one is pretty much a given). The only problem then is that AMD hasn't bothered to make any R7 or R9 APUs.

If you want something fast and tiny but don't need gaming-level graphics, the latest-generation Intel NUC's are pretty amazing.

Yes. Fortunately, I always save in a fresh slot, so it only set me back a little.

Maybe, but for how long?
Long enough to pwn any Nintendo Wii units that get sent my way, and that's really all that matters!

From what I've seen, also pretty expensive price-performance wise.

status They're tuning something in the lab downstairs. It's mounted to one of the building posts. The whole building is resonating. And all they play are scales.

It just needs to run Windows 7, Visual Studio 2012, and SQL Server 2012 so I don't think my requirements are very high.
I basically have eight hours a day that I must be in an office but I don't have any work to do. I don't want my IP on company equipment, I don't have any access to external media, and I can't install something like TeamViewer without setting off alarms. So I need something just portable enough to be able to travel frequently. Because this is a 100% dead-end job that I have to do something to get out of before it's too late and moving to Texas is the only option.

Status: Light on work since yesterday, so I decided to learn f#. I've now written a lisp interpreter capable of doing basic arithmetic. I really like this language. The whole currying/partial application/first order functions thing is really allowing for some interesting simplifications, once I finally get it to compile.

I recently built one up to power our conference room 4k projector and videoconference webcam thing. Quad core i3 (probably a mobile CPU, but it seems fast), 16 GB RAM (DDR4 SO-DIMM), 512 GB NVMe SSD, and Windows 10 Pro all for about $500 and it's basically the size of your hand. The Windows license was the expensive part, really.

@Zerosquare I mean, I think the point of all functional languages is just to recreate lisp after all, and the homoiconic nature makes it very easy to parse. I still needed help from some haskell guy at work, but translating from a language I don't know to a language I barely know to parse a language I don't know was good fun.
Most of the tutorials I see on how to do something like this write really complex parsers. Mine is like 15 lines or less, possibly shorter than the print function. My eval can only do basic arithmetic, and it parses to a .net decimal type from the symbol node. So the easy part is done.
Highly recommend trying this. It's good fun.
-
Status: reading SICP before sleep makes me write R with a lisp. Instead of building structures with a loop, I now call recursive functions that build them on the fly.

Do you use DVDs still? Often enough that you want a built-in drive? That you would have to carry around the whole time? I'm particularly asking: would an external drive do? Having more battery is a better use of the weight. External SD card readers are extremely light too; got one at home for getting data off cameras and it weighs next to nothing and fits in a standard USB-A slot.
Also yes, laptop shopping sucks.

You don't want to know how much code it takes to make a correct print function. It is one of these things that is much harder than it appears to be at first.
