Why?? no pants is even better.
I understand though, with no pants there is nothing to tear apart to get the treat

Status: How does soccer (futball) not have video replay in the 21st century? How many more tournament eliminations will happen on obviously wrong calls before they fully implement it?

Because in their wisdom FIFA has decreed that a fallible judge is part of the game.
-
I bet is happy that at least goal line technology is available.
Another reason is the pace of the game. FIFA doesn't want soccer to become a US style of game where the hole thing grinds to a halt because someone farted.

Can we not post imgur links with the extension? The onebox plugin let's me see them properly, but with the extension I can't see it except the first frame (because onebox is consistent like that).
I only know this because I'm seeing it at home.WTH, Chrome Desktop plays it just fine... Why is this so difficult?

They could still let the game keep going while the replay guys come to a decision. After all, it isn't like anything else significant would happen in-game for at least five minutes afterwards...

How is that supposed to work in soccer?
Say the referee doesn't stop for a fault like a dirty tackle ... some dudes at the sideline take a few minutes to decide and then call it a fault. Now the ball has to return to the point of the fault to be turned into a free kick or similar.
In The Netherlands they are experimenting with video assistance but that is instant. E.g. there is actually a third/fourth referee following the live feed and giving the 1st referee immediate feedback.

I think you're confusing real football with American football, where those 5 minutes would be spent planning out the next move in the turn based strategy you insist on calling a real sport
-
I think you're all taking a bunch of dudes chasing a ball way too seriously.

Give a point to the team who was wronged? Hey, I think I just discovered the key to a high-scoring soccer game!

I'm sleepy. My RSI is acting up. Don't feel like working.
I think I'll just go through my Sent emails folder and reread the emails I wrote over the last year. Yup, that sounds like a plan.

We were working on taking down Batman at the time.

FYI, "I'll continue to monitor it" means "I couldn't fix it and I'll never look at it again unless you bug me".

Are you sure you want to do this == stupid fucking designer idiots make pretty pictures and don't think about how this will act in an actual application.
All quiet on the Western front.

@lolwhat said in The Official Status Thread:

given that most soccer matches end with less 5 goals that is even more stupid. I suggest you limit yourself to handegg and I'll refrain from spouting stupid advice about that.

Giving a point, which is what is earned from a drawn game, would be an insanely high-value payout.

I was their IT guy who kept the ball rolling, while they were running around like idiots.

Remember that time I wrote an ad-hoc phone directory system using my own XML-based language to respond to DTMF tones?
My inbox history remembers.
Filed under: Oh that's enough, I should probably do some actual work now

@cartman82 It's still more readable (and possibly more sane) than Asterisk's "language" thing.

The
bestworst thing is, I wrote that entire WTF system and didn't even know asterisk existed and that it was the industry standard way to do this sort of stuff.

You can totally bring back gadgets to Win 8 and 10 using this site.
Bitching!
If you think "modern" apps and tiles can replace gadgets, you haven't seen the crestfallen look on my mother's face when her weather gadget stopped working.

Piece of motherfucking ass, fuck, shit, cunt, ass... I'm running out of fucking swear words here!
No, they are not kidding with the reboot shit. It won't reconnect until I do really reboot it. After I rebooted it 3 times to reinstall it properly after Windows updated and fucked up both that and VirtualBox guest additions. Then it worked for two fucking minutes, and now this shit again.
I fucking hate you, Cisco. Fuck you, fuck your proprietary broken bullshit, and fuck anyone who ever bought your products due to your fucking sales reps managing to convince them your shit works properly.

Good news:
openconnect
, some kind of open-source standalone thing connects successfully
Bad news: It routes all my traffic through VPN. Internet is blocked there, among other things
Good news: I have a solution! I'll just install a Debian VM onto my Debian host. Yes, yes, Matryoshka doll and all, but that would give me a working connection AND Internet access from my host machine
Bad news: there's no VSphere client for Linux
Good news: there's a web UI
Bad news: Parts of it only work using a plugin not available for Linux. Among other things, the plugin enables- Uploading files to a vSphere Datastore
- Mounting ISO/Floppy Image
UPLOADS! MOTHERFUCKING UPLOADS REQUIRE A PLUGIN!

Status: Minecraft server re-launched. Wow a lot of stuff has changed since I last played, which was around 1.7 or 1.8.
I really gotta convince one of my friends to be a co-server-admin to help keep this stuff up-to-date when I'm busy or not playing that particular game.
-
@Onyx Update: ok, Windows Cisco client kinda works now, it decided its body is ready now. So, connect to VPN, open VSphere thing, discover I need a remote console thiggy since I don't have permissions to upload ISOs to remote host. Click the link... oh, that's a link to VMware site, and no Internet connection...
Ok, ok, my host Debian machine has Internet access, go to site... requires a login. For a fucking remote console client? REALLY? Ok, FINE, create account, download, move to shared folder so I can install it in my Windows guest... Excellent.
Start console, choose ISO image...
Looks good! Reboot machine...
Not working... what?
WAT?
Oh... well that was so nice of you to tell me that!
Belgium! Cisco! Whichever!
Status: Sending emails to client's IT...

Here, have a . Give a goal to the other team.
Or, perhaps, do a "power play" thing where the offending team loses a player for some time.

@anonymous234 Joke's on you. What are you going to do with 100PB of data after 6 months, other than keeping it where it is and paying whatever Google's price is.
