@Tsaukpaetra Unplug and replug the cable? Surely UAC isn't stopping you doing that :P

An unexpected reboot at 3am is hardly an issue.
Unless you're running Windows 10, then apparently it's a massive issue.FTFC
I don't care about rebooting, so long as I'm in control of when that happens.

You expect our employees to be able to do such a thing as *gasp* modifying their workstations?! What level of competence do you think we are!?
We can't even get standardized signature lines FFS!

@boomzilla My phone did a ding today and reminded me of tax day, and I was like: nuh-uh! This year it's April 18th! Not the 15th! The IRS doesn't work weekends, anonymous person who programmed dates into my phone's default calendar! I got you pegged, buddy.

@dcon I can never keep track of when US holidays are; which one is it this time?
-
@RaceProUK It's not a US holiday, it's a Washington D.C. holiday.
-
-
@loopback0 I want to get Washington State to adopt "we want a fucking day off day".
-
@loopback0 Why is it not surprising the US has over 175 national days for food and drink?
We Brits only have five

@mott555 How about you try running Vindictus, and if that works for you (and your card is nvidia), I will try that. It's free and a good game anyway.

Emancipation Day (April 16th)

@loopback0 said in The Official Status Thread:
It's not unexpected, they told you about it.
That part of the context was Windows 10 rebooting at 3am unexpectedly. No, they said their forced reboot would happen only if you hadn't rebooted yourself, ergo I'm in control if I reboot intentionally. Not to mention that I can block their attempts to force reboot my machine anyways, but that's neither here nor there.
It's anyways, since my PC hard-locked the CPU yesterday and (theoretically) whatever system they're using to determine uptime would know that it's been up less than seven days.
Also, why is "mu" different in the dropdown in comparison to what shows?

There seem to be two

@loopback0 Yep:

The picker's picking up the custom, but the baker's picking up the EmojiOne instead

Given the stereotypes about British cooking, that's probably expected.

Status: I don't know why I'm disappointedish in the way Hunger Games 3.2 ended. Since movies (especially 'merkin movies) never end in a way that's other than how it ended. No matter what the books did.
Still. I do regret watching it on a work night. Gonna be irked for hours, sleep may be optional tonight...

Edit: It's worth mentioning that Jeff Atwood has a fuckton of things wrong with his SSL.

@dkf why us is seen as simplified? I find it easier to understand the british on TV.

Chinese has Simplified and Traditional locales. This is a joke based on the perception of Americans as dumb hicks who've bastardised the Queen's English into their own dialect.

At the same time I have a migraine and I don't have my headphones so I can't put music on to block the ambient noises, and there's quite a lot of ambient noises in this office.
Less than two hours until I can go home.

And they are because the Communists in mainland China pushed through some spelling reforms that were ignored by the nationalists on Taiwan. (I'm not sure if โspellingโ is the right word there; the writing system doesn't work in the same way. But the effect is similar.)

I'm toying with the idea of renting a domain with the intention of setting up an email server behind it. What I'm thinking of doing is getting gmail backing that domain if possible. Then migrate everything over to that domain. Each site I sign up for would have an email address i.e. netflix_com@dogsb.com, amazon_co_uk@dogsb.com, moltenbrown_eu@dogsb.com, etc... They would all redirect to one email address i.e. dogsb@dogsb.com and filtered accordingly by address. I would never share this address to anyone ever. I think it would be interesting to see who is sharing what, where and how.
Has anyone else done this? Was it as much hassle as it appears or did it work out well? I can't be the only one who has thought of this but I might be the only one who is dumb enough to do it...

Why use the actual name? Someone might rumble that. Use an ID that you can map to what service you gave it to; user1492873506@dogsb.com will be just as informative and won't have people guessing what other things there might be in thereโฆ

@DogsB Used that in the past. You needed a catch-all address where every invalid address would be forwarded to.
The downside is that any invalid address a spammer use will also end up there.

firstname.lastname+amazon@gmail.com or whatever and let Gmail deal with it.edit: or whatever
