Unless things were truly explosive...

There will be an XKCD specifically to mock @accalia
-
That stuff you got on your face is the wrong color.
Yeah ... should have used different colors for that face paint ...
Only €3 to get it right!

I'm taking a screenshot so I can remember this moment forever.

Apple will release a new and magical iPhone that does a couple of things Android introduced two years ago and one pointless thing nobody has any use for. All three features will be praised and taken up as new standards
A new Javascript framework will be the next big thing. It will be forgotten by the end of the year
@Lorne_Kates will upgrade from Windows XP
-
I will find a girlfriend.
Said girlfriend will probably be the same species this time.
The DVD collection will be finally ripped to digital and go the way of our VHS tapes.

As what?
Sorry, I didn't imply causality there, did I?
The parental figures insist that it is no longer suitable that I date Imaginary people.

I've been watching Frasier on Netflix while making dinners and other circumstances when I need noise I can easily ignore.
Yesterday I watched the episode where Frasier (after a long dry spell) genuinely meets an underwear model slash reptile PhD candidate who's going to Mexico to artificially inseminate iguanas... and nobody believes him. And she also happens to have "just left" every time a witness appears.

Well my girlfriends haven't been nearly so unbelievable (well, the ones I would relate to others in any case, don't want to appear too weird, after all).
-
I simply describe my dates as "blonde" or "Asian"
-
So... rhesus monkeys, then.
-
I simply describe my dates as "blonde" or "Asian"
Well, I don't eat them, so I can't really compare Dates to "blonde" or "Asian"....
-
var mottsMate = new Date();
Am I doing it right?
-

As far as I know, in heterosexual relationships, not eating them is a to the relationship.
-
not eating them is a to the relationship.
Huh. Haven't thought of that. Maybe I should start?

Yes you are.
Please never reproduce.
My parts and Firefox's JavaScript console parts don't appear compatible enough for reproduction.

Sure they are.
Just keep trying.
Forever.
-
@polygeekery, could you help us~?
?? Am I being summoned because I regularly tell @Fox to go reproduce with himself?
-
I thought about pretty pictures of enthusiastic female Firefox fans, actually ...
-
Ohhhhhhhh, that makes more sense. My search history will already leave my family with more questions than they ever want answered if I were to die. Might as well, I suppose. Give me a moment. ;)

-
You beat me to it.
-
Firefox is in to facials.

DJ Pencil Douche back there is all like "WHAT THE FUCK, LADY! You look at the lens in the mirror, not the phone screen! Do you not know anything about optics, guuuurl?"
-
I don't care what she knows about optics. I would convert to a furry to hit that.
-
-
How about some males too? Firefox promotes diversity, after all.
-
No thanks.

Well, being a hipster is trendy now.

I predict I'll get my Snatoms before anyone ever sees those dumb cat-ear headphones
didn't your girlfriend already get hers?

The answer was

Predictions for 10 to 20 years from now:
- "Delivery drones" will be commonplace in cities, with hundreds or thousands operating autonomously, picking up stuff and carrying it to other places. You'll be able to send something anywhere within several km for a relatively low price.
- Smartphones will still exist in pretty much the same form as today.
- Smartwatches (and other wearables) will be more popular than today. They'll be considerably more "intelligent" in terms of things like speech recognition, for example listening in all your conversations by default, to the point where we would consider it "creepy" but people will just be used to it.
- The vast majority of software will be in HTML+WebAssembly or .NET/CLI form (or, failing that, whatever unholy HTML+apk mixture Google comes up with)
- "Linux distros" in their current form still won't have gained any desktop users. Some Linux-based OSs might become popular, but the "userland" will be completely different from what we have today (GNU command-line tools, shell scripts everywhere, ad-hoc text-based formats everywhere, GTK/QT as widget toolkits, GNOME/KDE as interface)
- PowerShell on Linux will hopefully start replacing bash/sh pretty soon now. This might (but probably won't) lead to a re-writing of most Linux services and libraries as people realize that objects are good and plain text is bad.

That's never going to happen.

Powershell isn't really replacing CMD on Windows, and everybody accepts that CMD is really shit
-
@Jaloopa All that we really need is for PowerShell to be changed into a language that is compiled to a .NET assembly. That'll make it much more popular!
