Throw a fuzz-tester at it with the test failure conditions such that it fails if it works?

Second-most reasonable option is cyclic static analysis, characterization and requirement tests, refactoring and unfucking, and profiling, i.e. inherited code dev crank. It puts the
arduous
back in the process, for sure.Or I guess you could get some kinda insight into the problem, but not from me. Around now I'd be looking into rolling my own wtfe that problem dep was doing, assuming I couldn't drop something else in.
This all assumes the maintaining dev doesn't exist or is as bad as this code is evaluated as.

Status: Now has a PS5. Spent the first evening getting platinum on Astro’s Playroom. Got a couple games: the FF7R Intergrade and Demon’s Souls.
First impression is that the system UI is cleaner than PS4 and the competition. Other than that, like the XSX with an inferior controller.
Also, those bastards at Square Enix has everyone pay extra for FF7. Sure, the upgrade is free… but you need to pay for the added content and deluxe upgrade, even if you had the deluxe version of PS4 FF7R. And because they count as separate games I need to 100% the PS4 version before exporting a save to the PS5 version.
But yeah. The trifecta of rare electronics desires 20/21 is complete! I now have XSX, PS5 and RX 6900.

Status Still on vacation. Like most such, things, it's more stressful than being at work. But since it's family and I carpooled up with my brother, I can't exactly leave. Sigh.
On the other hand, I figured out what was causing my laptop to slow to a crawl. I'm sure many of you could guess instantly: Windows Defender deciding that it needed ALL THE RAM and ALL THE DISK I/O.

I haven't used the new XBox but the DualSense controller is literally the best gamepad I've ever used. The haptics in particular are great.

I don't know anything about PS5 or XSX (or xbone for that matter) menus, but I still think in general they've all gone downhill from both the PS3's XMB system, and the original "blade" UI from the launch of the 360
-
@hungrier I hated the XMB. Never used the blades interface much but I liked the later 360 dashboard iterations

Status: Motherfucking GameStop.
I put in two orders in the last week.
One was for four TransFormers. Three were marked delivered Tuesday and the fourth was marked delivered yesterday. I received one today (badly bashed of course) and the other three never arrived. Fantastic.
The others was nine figures, doubles of four and a single fifth. I received eight, still being short a Batman Beyond.
But among these arrived a mystery box! Marvel Legends She-Hulk and the DC Multiverse JL Movie Batman. That I don't have any record of ordering, in either my mailbox or my GameStop account. Because the packing slip says they were supposed to go to somebody in Blaine, MN.

@Zenith Talk about torturous logic...
I believe the deal was $10 off $75 and $20 off $150. I ordered four $19.99 figures, which should've worked out to $69.96 with free shipping. Toss in $4.20 tax and you have $74.16 altogether.
So on the left, I have no idea where they get $9.99 from. Even counting the shipping as a savings, $17 isn't enough to drop $80 down to $40.
Moving on to the right, 16 items? Then they subtract a negative number, effectively adding it. The discount was $10 but they added 97c for some reason. Then they subtract $21 in shipping, even though the actual savings was $6.99. If they were counting each item as separate shipping, wouldn't it be $28 savings? Anyway, after they use a discount to increase the the price, subtract mystery shipping, and add tax, they amazingly manage get to the right number.
Keep in mind, this is what the site's order history shows. The cart showed different. My order e-mail showed different. Each of the shipping e-mails showed different.
On GameStop's end, they claim to have one tracking number when I've received four. Yet the packing slip inside the one of four boxes I did receive shows whoever packed it knew they were only putting one in the box.
Enterprisey e-commerce software, ladies and gentlemen...

@Tsaukpaetra If I were going to guess, and mind you this is a guess, I would use
disconnect()
if I planned to reuse the connection. There are socket calls that have parameters that change whether it just disconnects or disconnects and deallocates all associated handles/memory.

Poured hot espresso on top of cold milk, assuming I'd get warm milky coffee. The layers remained separate, so I got hot coffee with a cold milk chaser... and I didn't hate it. It was kind of nice.
-
@Tsaukpaetra said in The Official Status Thread:

Looks like a C API, so
espconn_disconnect
will deallocate the underlying socket (or whatever OS resource is involved) but keep the local context information live, whereasespconn_delete
will also free up any local resources (such as the memory structure that theespconn
argument points to, assuming that you're not using the pattern where you allocate that in your own memory).Yes, that's documentation that's rather unhelpful…
Also, I like the way “
Returns : none
” matches to ansint8
, which might be an error code. Or not. Who the fuck knows?

Reading the code, they are indeed nearly identical, and actively prevent the other from being called once the one is invoked. One does the needful of immediately trying to actually disconnect.
