Do you actively use it or something?
I just open it every so often to update the drivers and otherwise it gets ignored.I use it for two things: driver updates and game profiles. Problem is, to use any function of the program there is mandatory login, even if there is no fucking reason for it. Why do I have to have an account and log in to update my fucking drivers? Fuck Nvidia and fuck their entire user-hostile model. Also, the program likes forgetting my login status, adding to the annoyance. Fuck Nvidia.
You don't need to log in to update drivers. Just, not doing so means you don't get to check automatically. Or something.

If you can read this, I'm back up and running after doing hardware upgrades and a clean install of Windows. So...many...software...installs.
I don't bother with Geforce Experience. You can just go get the drivers yourself.

I've decided that the current state of the laptop I was doing is as good as it's going to get (for now). Boxed it up and emplaced a sigil for luck that it works perfectly for Christmas day...

Hey there, asshole, if you have to drive a huge-ass pick-up, which is oh so practical in the city, would you mind configuring it correctly so that the headlights shine on the streets instead of my rear mirror? After standing in traffic (for which there apparently was no reason at all) for half an hour and getting blinded by a thousand suns, that started to really get on my nerves.
And oh look, it was a dodge, with a USA license plate. Who would have thought that?!
-
@Tsaukpaetra Geforce Experience will happily tell me there's driver updates. Just if I want to start the install without going to the Nvidia site I have to be logged in. Unless Geforce Experience also got an update, because that will be applied first regardless making me wait for that. And then I'll get to the lottery if I am still logged in or got randomly logged out.
So yeah, Nvidia has failed at a very simple task making it a hassle regardless of how you choose to update. Compared to AMD which allows convenient driver updates without forcing a login to a pointless shite account.

So you save yourself five seconds (ten if you have to google "nvidia download") with GeForce experience when logged in? How optimized you must be....

@Tsaukpaetra My chief beef with Nvidia right now is still their business practices. There's been a lot of bullshit coming from the green camp lately, like GPP (which got scrapped over the fallout). 5-year NDA for publications who want to get review samples ahead of release, to prevent sharing of flaws. Their bullshit responses to the RTX problems. Etc...

That seems.... unwise....
Edit: I think I've told this one before, but I came downstairs for a noise once and found one cat on the dresser pushing things off and the other cat then pushing the stuff under the dresser. Hateful creatures.

You do need to log in to update drivers from the GeForce Experience app, which was what he was talking about.
I mean, I guess I could go to the website whenever it says "a new game-ready driver is ready for download" or whatever the notification is. But that kind of defeats the point of having GeForce Experience installed -- they could just as easily run a simple email list and send out a notification whenever it updates so that everyone could click the link to the website and download it there.

They should really get on that...

That would be obnoxious to use. Seriously. Here, attendance can be pre-filled (for known absences), changed after submission (took attendance, kid was absent. Kid walks in 30s later. I can change that absent to a tardy without mucking around in things.) and updates quickly (meaning the attendance person can track down missing/absent/tardy kids quickly instead of running reports and waiting for runners).
I've used paper attendance before--it sucked. Badly.

You're right, it's a lost cause. You can't hope to go up against consumer-grade router security.

But users might be using AdBlock, in which case they wouldn't see any of the ads.
Better just make a standalone app that delivers the updates. And make the users log in so that they can be tracked better!

I have a mid-range MSI laptop and a cheap 40" 4K TV. Stuff like PlanetSide 2, Elite: Dangerous, MechWarrior Online, and Minecraft all work great in 4K and are glorious. But Kerbal Space Program, Interstellar Rift, and Empyrion (all Unity games) bring it to its knees and I have to drop to 1080p.
I am not a billionaire, but I won't necessarily dispute the moron part.
-
@mott555 The moron part is for people who prefer 4k 60fps over 2K 120fps. The billionaire part is for people who can afford a >60Hz 4k monitor and a GPU that can output 4k at >60fps.

My monitors only do 60Hz so 120Hz is for me..
Even if they went to 120Hz, I'm not convinced there's a noticeable difference. It's just a pissing contest IMO.
I run most games on max settings at 5840x1080 and they run between 30fps and 60fps (Vsync on) on my 960.
Just Cause 4 is the first game I've had to drop to 1920x1080 to keep above 30 at max settings.

@Tsaukpaetra except 4K refers to the horizontal resolution because that way they can market it as (under) 4 thousand rather than (over) 2. Meaning that 1080p would be 2K (1920 ~= 2000) under the same conventions.
