Make a VR app for the forum.
With haptic feedback.
It's all fun and games until @Perverted_Vixen humps your leg.
Nah, it's still fun even then. Sexy fun.
Unless of course they don't want me to hump their leg, but if i was then they do because i would have asked first. I'm polite like that.

You forgot which version he's using.
Yes, I did, but I know it's not FF22 any more and it's also not 57.

There was a "reactions" plugin I found, but it didn't seem to work...
-
Feature request: a common operation I do is browse long threads backwards, looking for "X moths ago" and start reading from there. It would be nice if there was some kind of "Previous/Next subthread" button somewhere.

"X moths ago"
This is a very unreliable measurement of time. It is strongly influenced by the presence of naphthalene balls.
-
@zecc TRWTF is that "naphthalene" is not a typo.

Why even stop there? All emoji images should be available as types of vote, like this:

Just let us vote using floating-point vectors in a 3-dimensional sphere.

Hmm, I wonder if I can fork the reactions plugin and make it also support nodebb-plugin-mentions-emoji...
-
@ben_lubar so we could react to posts in Garage with ?
-

With the notifications suppressed.
-
@loopback0 Those already don't generate notifications.
-
@anotherusername said in Official forum improvement requests thread:

Reactions don't exist yet so I'm going to call this one "technically true".
-
@ben_lubar I mean, we already have those by way of nodebb-plugin-mentions-emoji, and they don't generate notifications.
Making that plugin and a reactions plugin work together wouldn't logically change the fact that they don't generate notifications (it shouldn't, anyway).

We should re-enable animated avatars.

@pie_flavor said in Official forum improvement requests thread:

That would re-introduce the @tufty problem. The animated lemon was OK but the one before was not.
TBH I prefer it if, generally, things don't animate on webpages.
Edit: Ohhhhhh, I see now

Could the forum not lock up completely on my phone, making it impossible for me to scroll the page or even navigate away?
(Samsung Galaxy S9+, Chrome)
Filed under: I suspect it's either a blocking onscroll event or an OOM condition.
-
@error said in Official forum improvement requests thread:
an OOM condition.
Talk to me about your condition. My current ROM has a memory leak in the media playback service (I think) outside Android proper, which means I can't kill it except in Terminal. So, after about five hours I'm down to about 180 MB free RAM with nothing running, and soon after System UI starts getting OOM killed.
-
@error I know that one. It's a lot rarer for me, though. You have to close the tab and open a new one.

probably a bad idea to post that in this thread (see OP)

Alternatively, updated based on topic derailment /or the response of your audience to it, not based on the content itself.
There are more examples and concepts to be explored, of course. But we're here to provide guidelines and suggestions that I have found helpful, or helpful enough, to recommend as a guideline, that I haven't been able to write about in this blog. I think it's important you feel comfortable having a go at it, seeing if it does help, or isn't necessary, depending on the specific topic. These guidelines can help you develop a better understanding of why you are doing what you are doing, or if the content isn't helping.

@Jaloopa "voting" - just let all the TL3 users edit the background whenever they want, as a harkening back to the Discourse days.

Like Community Server's topic titles, each user should be able to upload a new background for their post. The background would scroll in along with their post and then 'stick' until it was replaced by someone else posting a new one.
