Not sure if this counts as a dumb thing or not tbh:
!https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/ninjacket-japan/The whole point of ninja clothing is to hide you.
Not exactly. Those things would be pretty conspicuous even if they were all-black.
Actual historical ninjas "became invisible" by pretending to be servants or peasants, who were socially invisible enough to give them an opportunity to get close to a target. The head-to-toe black costume actually comes from a very different source: it's the traditional dress of a stagehand in Kabuki theater.
A Kabuki stagehand can walk into the middle of a scene and rearrange things as needed, and because they're dressed like that, the audience knows to ignore them; they're not worth paying attention to. Then some playwright got the brilliant idea of depicting a ninja this way: have him dress up as a stagehand, who then becomes "invisible" to the audience right up until he jumps out and assassinates someone! It was successful enough to be imitated, until it became a cultural stereotype to depict ninjas dressed like stagehands.
There's another aspect of this that I understand adds to it: ninja often passed themselves off as traveling entertainers, at least when going from place to place, and (according to at least one source, which I don't remember how to find and frankly think is probably unreliable) the earliest use of the term applied to a troupe of traveling clowns and jugglers, who became outlaws when one of them agreed to help someone assassinate a noble. Supposedly, they switched from full-time performers to part-time killers because they had developed an exaggerated reputation, meaning that when they did find an area where they weren't already being hunted and could perform, people who recognized them sought them out for their own murder-for-hire schemes, and eventually, would try to convince other performers to do the same.
I don't know if that is true, or what influence that might have had on on the Kabuki playwright's stroke of genius. Even if it weren't, it is certainly the case that a troupe of acrobats or fortune-tellers could go from place to place more freely than even the nobles could (as could merchants, and I imagine ninja disguised themselves that way as well), and no one would pay them any attention save to wonder what sort of act they do and whether they would be putting a show on nearby.

if it's a stupid idea that makes them filthy stinking rich then it's not a stupid idea.
it's not like we actually have any oversight on where the money is spent. spend say 30% of it on the appearance of attempting to bring the product to market and bathe in the rest. winnar!

They finished their crowd funding with $50K. 30% would be $15K and leaves them with $35K. That hardly qualifies as:

filthy and stinking rich could mean you just decided baths are for losers.
if the scam makes them happy then who am i to complain about that?
i mean, it's reprehensible, but we have legal recourses to stop them if they get out of hand, and....

@masonwheeler as you have lived in argentina, you maybe know Julio Cortazar. he was a writer, and one of his tales is called "Autopista del sur", it relates a situation exactly like what you said, but that lasted for months.

What's stupid about getting kids to brush? If all it took were buying one of these to have my kids brush properly I'd be all over it.
Also their adult game has gold coins. GOLD COINS. How could you not want to collect them?

@Maciejasjmj
If I remember correctly the wastewater was used as water for the beer making process. No pee yeast was used. Hence it being a better idea then this crowdfunded thing.

Depends on the context and what you're willing to call a "ninja".
At night, busting into a place, full dark blue was an option.

Sure, because touchscreens can actually tell between "just the tip" and "full tongue on the screen"! (they can't)

More of a touchscreen driver issue: It wasn't coded to give that kind of distinction to the programs. At best it will detect it as "I think there are maybe 5 fingers pressed to the screen, kinda?"
-
@Tsaukpaetra multi-touch capable devices can give quite detailed information. For each touch they can provide such details as minor radius, major radius, and angle in addition to just the touch event's center coordinates.
