Have you ever tried cooking yourself?
I only cook things I can eat. I believe that I will be unable to eat myself after I'm done cooking myself.
I'd say it depends on what part(s) of yourself you cook.

@hungrier oh really? How does arbitrary word order in a sentence work for you?
Hey, it was good enough for the Latins.
-
@brie I meant that it's an awesome feature that English lacks.

The context is too important for that one.

It's used as a first here as well (not common).
Though the only ones I've heard of previously are Asia Argento and Asia Carrera (so the rest may not be that famous).
-
@Karla There are two famous people both named Asia Ray?

Asia is short for Joanna? That makes no sense.
-
@Polygeekery Joanna -> Joasia (dimunitive) -> Asia (shorthand).
Want to hear a real nonsense? Kuba is short for Jakub.

That's easier to understand than Joanna -> Joasia in my books, but then again I've never seen the -asia suffix for a diminutive.
Here's one you might find weird: Miguel -> Ito (through Miguelito).

I was hasty. We have retarded shit like that in English also.
Dick is short for Richard. (and @polygeekery for that matter)
Jack is short for John, for some fucking reason, even though they are the same number of letters and syllables. Seriously, I know a person who goes by Jack, but his real name is John, and this is not that uncommon.
-
@Polygeekery Maybe Jack was short for Jonathan before John was short for Jonathan, and then it stuck? Hmm, still doesn’t make sense though.
-
@topspin
Or Jack was a reference to how King John the Whateverth was a total Jack-off, but he never caught on to the fact that it was derogatory and used it as an actual nickname and called it macaroni:yankeeDoodle:
