@Tsaukpaetra I hope he wasn't referring to a circumcision.
It was (apparently) in reference to avoiding sinful masturbation while urinating. Unnecessary touching and all that.
This was a while ago.
That was what the saying was actually supposed to mean, so...
Well then, the reference circle has been completed.

I had to put chains on once in Yosemite
Sounds like the best way to deal with MacOS

the transmission will lock the front wheels. If it's an automatic, it will be in Park, while a manual should be in first gear.
First doesn't lock the transmission, and who leaves a manual car in 1st rather than neutral anyway?
My parents. Almost caused me a heart attack the next morning when I lurched forward. I now double-check after anyone else has driven my truck.
Edit: though I will say my habit is mostly due to being in a bowl where there's no such thing as slope. I will adjust my habits e when abroad.
I once borrowed an old shitty car from a friend (optional extras included bird shit on the bonnet, a leaking radiator that needed refilling twice on the way to work and a passenger door that didn't open) . When I picked it up I did the usual check that it wasn't in gear by moving the gearstick from side to side, and it had plenty of give. I was rather surprised when it lurched forward anyway because the give was just the gearbox being awful

There's a bug in a cinema's reservation system. It adds 10 to the number of seats available/overall:
Maybe they're planning for an expected number of no-shows?

Today's WTF is me... for some reason, I spaced out and wrote 2016.
(I actually wasn't writing today's date, but yeah, I meant 2018)

-
@pie_flavor where's the ?
You have $12 on hold because something needs to be cleared, like a check
-
@TimeBandit I didn't know that was a thing.
Also, there's still a WTF there if you know what you're looking for.
-
@pie_flavor It can be really cool sometimes - when I had to send in my Surface Book to be replaced, the Microsoft support immediatly sent a new one after they determined it to be broken without waiting for the old one to arrive. To facilitate that they put a hold for the amount of a new one on my credit card.

Yes please, I would like a million ads on my computer!

Apparently if there's an uncaught exception in a WPF program it just... disappears? Not even the "this application has stopped working". Just nothing.
Is that normal? I've tried 3 computers and they all do the same.
Edit: sample

Pre- or post-8Nov? Just wondering whether it can be blamed on the outcome of that event.
-
Nothing. You get a busy cursor for a fraction of a second and then the program just fails to load without any feedback whatsoever. WTF?
E_NOREPO:
Windows 10, removed freeglut.dll from the searchpaths for one of the student projects that I had laying around.
-
@cvi Weird, I tried this both on our Windows server and on a freshly installed VM.
Maybe you need DMFK installed for it to work.

Weird, I tried this both on our Windows server and on a freshly installed VM.
Sure it's linking against the DLL and not loading it manually or something (and giving up when it can't)? (Also, FWIW, I have VS installed on my machine; from what I understand, that can change some system settings here and there.)
DMFK
Google wasn't particularly helpful either.

Certainly, otherwise I wouldn't get the message box on Windows 7. (Also dependency walker agrees)

It definitely changes crash messages to "debug this", not sure about this message.

Good point.
Thanks - had missed that. (Have worked on Disney code, nothing magical about that kingdom.)

@Rhywden and that is when you call the local police department, and then watch out the window as the car gets towed away.
This channel (Apparently, some videos require a subscription, but many are free.)
Example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xh88Kek1P0gIn this one the truck picks up the car and moves it before properly hooking it up and towing.
Never seen that before.

The way he picks it up to move it, I would be surprised if there is no damages to the car

He did have his flashers on. Turns out he was waiting for someone to pull out of a parallel parking spot.

The part that I find strange is that there are vehicles in both of those videos that aren't towed, even though they were there longer than the vehicles that were towed. Were they given special permission or something?

That's the default color scheme for an Android project. They left the default template files lying around and left one of the references to them in one of the generated activities.

@anonymous234 I'm happy to announce that my quiz website not only doesn't share your data with third parties (unless you count the fact that you're loading bootstrap from a CDN, but at that point the only data the third party gets is that your browser visited a website with that version of bootstrap that year) but also doesn't even have any scripts, or even a server-side component. The entire thing is processed by the nginx reverse proxy.

In today's episode of "Windows update sucks":So I have this workstation running RHEL 6. It's a pretty old machine with an even older OS, on purpose since I need this setup (and moving it to a VM is ). Also, it's not IT administered so I have to deal with shit myself on there.
Was turned off for a few days and today it wouldn't boot anymore, just a black screen. After some troubleshooting with a boot image I realized it's not a hardware error and (guess I should've checked that first) booting with an older kernel still works. Old one was
2.6.32-754.2.1
, "new" one is2.6.32-754.6.3
.Whoa, WTF.
Isn't a super old Red Hat version supposed to be stable enough to not fuck up the machine with buggy kernel updates? Well, yum remove'ing the newer kernel fixed the boot problem and now I get security warnings.

My WTF of my day: Logitech seems to have some serious QA issues. I splurged a little a while back and bought the Logitech G903 and the induction pad (which charges the wireless mouse and doubles as a mouse pad). It's a nice mouse, all in all.
That was five months ago. One month ago, the right mouse button developed an issue where it simply wouldn't stay pressed all the time and instead did a rapid double-click. Which makes games where "Long right press" is
mouselook
and "Right click" iscontext menu
a bit difficult to deal with.Contacted Amazon and got a replacement sent out. Everything was fine again.
And today, the left mouse button developed the exact same problem. Which, considering the ratio of left versus right click, is a bit more catastrophic in nature. For example, it makes moving windows with the mouse virtually impossible.
I hope Amazon will agree to send another replacement. If that one also develops a defect, I'll stay away from Logitech for the foreseeable future. I'm not optimistic - the Amazon reviews now show quite a number of people with issues with the buttons and wheel.

You're using the wrong kind of display. You need an old-school (and very faulty) plasma screen if you want to toast bread with the NodeBB UI.
