Despite their respective reputations, can't won't go after chickens unless they're pretty hungry but dogs'll kill chickens for the sheer fun of it.
-
So do foxes ... well known in country circles.
A fox will murder anything it can.
Cats will murder anything for fun as well ... they just happen to do it against smaller animals (generally). If you never seen a cat murder a bird you missing out they are very effiicient!
-
As I've heard, the reason foxes kill all the chickens in the coop is because they get in by accident and panic along with the chickens.
-
It doesn't matter why, it just matter that is does happen.
-
Oh yeah don't get me wrong. Cats kill for fun all the fucking time, chickens are just a tad too big to be fun.

We had a cat who'd bring home live mice to play with, then set them free inside the house. We had to sic the dog — a german shepard — to catch them.

While I'm not keen on getting into a Uber-vs-regulations-derp!-debate, I'm not quite sure why the author of this article wrote it, other than to demonstrate on how one can miss a point completely and make a living from it.
Uber has taken a lot of flack from some of its drivers since it lowered fares in January, but the ride-hail company argues that the cheaper rides are having the desired effect.
Yes. Lower prices lead to more demand. That wasn't the problem.
The problem was Uber drivers claiming that it was hard to make a profit (let alone a living) from driving for Uber. I'm not sure how slashing prices solves that for the drivers.
We lose money on every item but make it up on volume
Over here, we had some people go over the numbers and, taking all costs into account (repairs, depreciation, insurance...), driving for Uber would amount to a losing proposition.

Age old question answered: crane style beats tiger style!
Also interesting that the keepers were able to grab the crane without any protection, but the tigers ran away. Wonder if the outcome would have been different if the tigers were hungry.

Maybe. But apparently, like house cats, they are wary of anything new...especially anything new and threatening.
-
I totally saw that movie and I'm sorry but Mistress Tigress would have been able to kick that crane's ass. Even if she hadn't been voiced by Angelina Jolie.

Indeed. I know one driver who won't be driving any more. That will tighten supply and help remaining drivers make more money. Not necessarily more than they were making before, of course.

#'Girls in tech' competition won by boy
##EDF Energy has been criticised after a 13-year-old-boy won a competition that was part of a campaign to attract teenage girls to the fields of science, technology, engineering and maths.Well, shit.
-
Is calling him a boy is a micro-aggression?
-
The BBC understands that the decision had been made to open the competition up to both genders in the interests of fairness
Yup.

That looks like a totally spies gadget (which may be the intention).

One of the Microsoft Kin phones was round. Not sure if it ever hit stores, or if that phone line was cancelled before it was actually produced...

This is interesting. I've had people tell me that I should drive for Uber because it is (supposedly) a good way to make some money while I look for a job. Even if that were true, however, it would be problematic because I would have to invest in a new car; mine is 3 times the maximum age Uber allows.

The phone's shell has the unmistakably low-quality aesthetic of 3D-printed objects,
crowdfund the 2G phone

Sounds like a great idea!

Computer code written by women has a higher approval rating than that written by men
I would approve her code.

I don't see the problem?

A south Florida man is apologizing after throwing a live alligator into a Wendy's drive-thru window.
According to authorities, it started when Joshua James placed an order at the fast-food restaurant in Royal Palm Beach, FL.
He took his drink, reached into the back of his truck, and pitched a 3.5-foot alligator through the drive-thru window when the server turned around.

So, there've been bunch of news stories recently about the "very high profile legal case" involving a stalker who recorded naked videos of Erin Andrews in her hotel room. Surprise, surprise... guess what a bunch of people are searching for...

A German bank has become the first non-state borrower to issue euro denominated debt at a negative yield, another milestone as the continent’s financial system moves further into the world of sub-zero interest rates.
…Berlin Hyp issued €500m of covered bonds with no coupon and priced to yield minus 0.162 per cent on Tuesday, according to Bloomberg data. That means investors are guaranteed to lose money if they hold the bonds to maturity.

I think they're using that word that I bolded wrong.

Yeah. Taking a financial class, this was something that came up in the discussion topics. Bad idea. Bad ideas indeed...

The Utah state legislature has unanimously passed a resolution which:
recognizes that pornography is a public health hazard leading to a broad spectrum of individual and public health impacts and societal harms; and recognizes the need for education, prevention, research, and policy change at the community and societal level in order to address the pornography epidemic that is harming the citizens of Utah and the nation.
-
A pornography epidemic. Is that anything like the idiotic legislation epidemic?
-
Technically, a "resolution" is not "legislation"... it's not a law, just the legislature pontificating.

recognizes the need for [...] research

I guess they have a serious obsession with nasty schoolboy games then?
Just work on it a minute or so, it'll come to you.

Luckily this is in Great Britain. Instead of a riot and shops being raided for their last biscuits we'll only see a queue of people lined up to use the community soapbox for 5 minutes where they can rant how the government never does any good in these dire times of crisis.
-
Before the obligatory puff PR piece where someone like George Osborne will turn up to press the flesh and reassure prospective voters that the government really will look out for them.
-
All while actually having as many biscuits as possible with their obligatory cups of tea. After all, it wouldn't do to let ordinary people actually have something that there is a shortage of.

Incorrect. It's been to court and everything.
