@Polygeekery So of course Taco Bell one-ups them:

Surely they should be spending their money on the phone instead of eating it?

The last time I needed a new phone, I would have gotten something like that, but the only non-smart phones I could find without a contract were more expensive than a low-end smart phone. Since the point of getting one would have been to save money, the lack of saving quickly eliminated them from consideration. Now that I have a smart phone, I probably won't go back, but if I were in the position of needing a new phone (not for a while), cost were of utmost importance (quite possible), and it were favorably priced, I'd sure consider it.

Work recently gave me an after hours support phone. It is a flip phone... no data, because that's bad... at least I only have to charge it once a week, when it loses 1 bar of power, and the only calls I get are robot calls or wrong numbers.
-
@RaceProUK said in In other news today...:
Gosh I loved that phone. Brick survived practically everything I could (under daily circumstances) do to it, from being run over by the bike to dropped in the pool, and lasted several days under moderate use!
sigh if only today's high-tech devices could say the same...

What's next, KFC will start offering divorces, extra crispy, with a side of mashed potatoes?

The Burger King Adult Meal is modeled after the concept of the toy-laden children's meal, but instead of the meal package coming with an innocent toy, the franchise in Israel has sauced it up with an "adult" toy.

No, what they need is a boom barrier.
Bonus points if it hits them in the head or smacks them in the stomach.
PS: the title is wrong. The tech helps prevent smartphone users from crossing the road.

I miss those. Hanging up on a telemarketer's face by pressing a soft button just isn't the same.

I might get one and just stick a pure dataplan SIM into my smartphone, TBQH. That way I don't have to worry about battery life and I still have the Internet on the go.

I had a 3310 many years ago, and I don't recall it being Internet-capable.

@RaceProUK Ummm... read that again, I said I'd still have the smartphone, just not as the main voice call device.

It may have had WAP, or that might have only come in on the 3330. It barely counts as internet though

The German police are conducting a formal investigation against Kick, as is always the case after an accident.
Seriously? Why can't they ju-
However, according to a policeman handling the case, he is more likely to get an award for his bravery than a fine.
Oh. Carry on then

Stick one up your ass and the other up your urethra. Problem solved.

"We don't communicate through calls and SMS as much as we did in the days of the 3310," he says.
"If it had an internet connection and access to WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, then maybe it has a place."This is why I hate Whatsapp so fucking much. A closed protocol monopolizes the communications market, refuses to provide any sort of API, and now any platforms that haven't been Whatsapp-approved are literally useless.

@RaceProUK This seems like a biased headline. They probably gave them a booklet that mentioned 3 strip clubs among 50 other places to visit. That's not a "guide to Estonian strip clubs".
-
Well isn't that uplifting! Maybe we'll all die and won't have to worry about politics and economics and stuff.

Given the title of the booklet is "Tallinn guide for friendly forces", you're probably right, especially as there's also these bits:
The guide included other nightlife tips, such as pubs Mad Murphy's and Hell Hunt, or visiting the city's historic Old Town for a dash of Baltic culture.
And it includes gift ideas for British troops. It suggests a visit to a shop called Bonbon Lingerie as a good place to pick up something special for wives and girlfriends. In terms of a bottle of something to bring home, it suggests Vana Tallinn or Old Tallinn liquor, of which the guide says, "Finns just love it and some of them use it as a sleeping pill."
My favourite part of the article however is this bit:
The BBC requested copies of various documents concerning the operation, also known as Exercise Hedgehog.
It's just a shame we don't have yet
