Given that the complaints are made during services you'd need to have known the schedule.

I swear I've complained about it here on multiple occasions. But I can't find them via "search", or even Google, either.

FWIW, I don't remember either. Not that my memory is trustworthy...
-
@acrow Could it have been in a thread started by Levicki, or some other user who GDPR'd their entire forum identity?
-
@hungrier Possibly, if all other explanations have been discounted.
But let us digress a bit, because I want to be sure that I understood the inference from just now correctly: Because of GDPR, anyone can now request a purging wide enough for posts by other members to be deleted as collateral damage?

From the discussions I've seen in the staff lounge, NodeBB ships some very nasty GDPR features (such as the "take the site down" button AKA export my data button). I believe we've disabled these now, but only after some users had their .

I believe this is an admin and/or mod action. The first time it was requested, the admin was unaware of the side effects. Since then, I think the admin just anonymizes/removes the post contents, without removing the post itself, so this doesn't happen. This is why, although @Weng rage quit, his topics are still accessible. @boomzilla, please correct me if I got this wrong.

That's Dfiferent™; he just stopped posting, same as some other prominent users who have left. His profile and posts are all still here, neither anonymized nor deleted. That said, I think the main point of your post is still correct.

It should be mentioned that it’s “because of GDPR” only indirectly. The GDPR doesn’t demand that feature.

I must have misremembered (no surprise there). I think I remember that he — or maybe it was somebody else — requested deletion/anonymization but was refused, or only partially granted, because of the problems it would cause. Usually, CRS causes me to forget things that happened, but sometimes it causes me to remember things Different™.

Except that we haven't actually done the anonymization thing yet. Need to test it out first, though I do have one person who recently requested that be done to their account.
Weng changed his avatar himself. His elevated privileges were removed but otherwise no staff member did anything to his account.

Do you guys ever get a logon screen that complete ignores any keyboard input until I click the mouse anywhere?
It's like the logon screen isn't focused. Maybe next time I should try alt-tab.

Once in a while - but only on my touch screen laptop. It forces me to swipe up first.

Yes! One PC at work does this! Except I have to press the
anyEnter key, clicking the mouse or any other key does not dismiss the stupid window shade thing...

Holy carp! Space bar, arrows, tab, escape, enter, letter keys, control, shift, alts.. nothing worked.
Then alt-tab and bam, the first key I pressed called up the password prompt.

I do wonder where the focus was for those other keys. I really hope that it wasn't still in the application that had it before the screen locked.

Likely winlogon.exe (or whatever). The window shade and unlock UI is it's own App.
-
Something really screwy was happening with my window focus today, whether by alt-tabbing or by clicking the buttons in the taskbar. More often than not it would re-focus back to the previous window, whatever it was. I've restarted the computer and now it's fine.
It's probably just a coincidence.

It was those auto-updates that installed magically behind your back even though you said no. And Windows just gets weird to force you to reboot. Of course.

Logging out and back in fixed it somewhat, but it's still behaving erratically now and then.

@boomzilla OTOH, if the attacker has physical access to plug in the mouse or keyboard, the airtight hatch isn't airtight.
-
@boomzilla From TFA:
When plugging in a Razer device into Windows 10 or Windows 11, the operating system will automatically download and begin installing the Razer Synapse software on the computer.
Eh. Not surprised. That software was crap last I had to deal with it, and it doesn't seem better now. Of course, that it's installed automatically these days ... well, fuck whoever made that a reality.

True, but this reduced the time-to-own quite significantly. At least it's super obvious when somebody does this, since Razer devices have the visual alarm lighting built-in.
