5℃ here, which is good. It means the cold front has gone past here, so we've got sunshine and showers, instead of gloom and rain (and comparatively warm air). The wind has also died down, which is nice…
-
-
You're going to take a shower when you get home, possibly.
I have an early finish today and am about to ride home on my bicycle. Taking plenty of water with me.

Or he has a kangaroo to lick him clean.

a kangaroo to lick him clean
I thought they used koala's for that? Just use eucalyptus soap and then apply the koala.
-
No, they eat them. They say it tastes like chicken on eucalyptus sauce.
-
Did he leave that dwarven door open again? Ben you should know by now to close that door with some magic spell that is only visible in moon light.
You mean when the last new moon in Autumn is in the sky during daylight, while a bird bashes snails on a stone. It's just the operating instructions that are visible in moonlight. (If it's Midsummer's Eve and the moon is a crescent. You gotta wonder what else was written on that map at other times of the year. 'Don't camp in a goblin's front porch,' perhaps. 'Burgling a dragon's treasure really p*sses him off.')

over cell or wifi?
i have a very nice pair of klipsch headphones and i don't notice any hiss when listening to GP music.

3G, Normal quality setting. I'll have to do some experimenting to make sure it's not just bad 'phones

Maybe Google Play need to upgrade their NAS.

well i've never noticed it, not on my $5.99 phones that i use for running, nor the $399.99 ones i use for rocking out to the bass.
of course i'm no audiophile.... hell the only reason i have the $400 phones is because they were on woot.com for $60 when my last pair of BT headphones broke and i was looking for a new pair.
-
-
Gold-plated, presumably.
no, just a touch of Coach Tax
(it's a well known brand (like Coach Handbags) so they charge more, just because they can. I know it's trendy to call it the Apple tax these days but Apple's far from the first to use it, and they are not the worst offender in that category either)
-

You spent $400 on headphones‽
@accalia said:they were on woot.com for $60
Oh.Carry on
-
The most expensive headphones I've ever owned were £100, bought for me as a birthday present. My new ones are SoundMagic E10s, which go for between £30 and £40, but are comparable in quality with the more expensive ones. They're seriously underpriced

I won't even spend $60 on headphones. I wait for the $60 ones to go on sale for under $20. Realistically, I don't expect high quality sound from my headphones. If I want good sound, that's what speakers are for.
-
Clearly I'm Doing It Wrong™ as I use either stock HTC headphones from like 3 years ago or stock BlackBerry headphones.
Realistically, I don't expect high quality sound from my headphones. If I want good sound, that's what speakers are for.
This.

if you can find half way decent blueTooth headphones for $20 let me know because i want some!
my wired headphones tend to be the $6 "i don't care if they break or sound like crap because $6" variety.
-
If you want to use uncomfortable headphones with bad sound quality, I have no problem with that at all.
BUT:
If you ever go on public transport with the crappy cheap earbuds that leak out and subject the rest of the bus/carriage to your taste in music then I hate you with the fire of a thousand suns.
Apple headphones seem to be the worst for this, with the additional annoyance that the perpetrators seem to believe that because it's Apple they must be good. This leads to the unfathomable decision, after their awful phones have beentrodden onworn out, to spend the Apple tax on a new pair rather than a similar amount on something decent, or a couple of pounds on something with the same quality. There is a circle of Hell reserved for these people
-
If you want to use uncomfortable headphones with bad sound quality
They're not uncomfortable or I wouldn't wear them. And the quality is fine for when I'm actually using headphones, which for music is usually only while walking the dog or while at work. At home I have speakers, and in the car I've got speakers.
If you ever go on public transport with the crappy cheap earbuds that leak out and subject the rest of the bus/carriage to your taste in music
I don't.

It's called "being an Apple
l
user"?
-
I don't.
You're alright in my book then. The inadvertent sharers were the worst of many bad parts about living in London
-
in the car I've got speakers
Does anyone sane use headphones in the car? :|Unless you're not driving, obviously.
-
Does anyone sane use headphones in the car?
I see people with headphones in the car all the time. Maybe they're not sane, I don't stop them and quiz them.
-
If you ever go on public transport with the crappy cheap earbuds that leak out and subject the rest of the bus/carriage to your taste in music then I will eviscerate you and feed you your own entrails
FTFYBut seriously, if you subject your music tastes on others thanks to listening at maximum volume through shit leaky headphones, then may your genitals rot away and slowly kill you from the inside.

you looking for the style that wrap around your head or independent earbuds? One is doable, the other might not be.
Edit: Do you amazon?
-

Out of interest, are they the super basic, moulded plastic ones like this
Or something a bit less cheap, with rubber inserts?

huh.... this i will have to look into when my current pair finally break beyond the repair skills of Bondo, SuperGlue, Sugru and Mr. Solder

I have a $50 headset, but that's for talking, too. I thought they were a bit expensive, TBH, but that seems to be the price for wireless, which I wanted for this go round.

-
As I mentioned further up, this hatred got going when I lived in London. Nobody there with any sense uses a car instead of buses and the Tube

Clearly, the people with sense got out already.

My most expensive headphones/ear buds I've ever bought are these, at $99:
http://cdn.shure.com/product/main_image/7592/prod_img_se215_l.jpg
Got them because they're sound-isolating, basically they have built-in foam earplugs. Works great for long highway trips on the motorcycle when I'd need hearing protection anyway.
-
do those.... those earbuds are modular so if one fails you cna replace just the failed earbud..... or am I crazy?
because if i'm not crazy then that would be awesome!

Actually it's so you can replace the cord when it fails, instead of replacing the entire thing. Cord failure is pretty common on these, and they have models running upwards of $500.
-
huh.... i think i need me some of that then. :-D

If you do this, you need Captain Kirk to step out of Star Trek IV to help you understand the problem you've created.

Either that or let the rest of us have a vote on what we're all listening to.

Oh, that's right, Spock did the nerve pinch.
But he never mastered the depths of swearing, like Kirk's infamous "and a double dumbass on you."
-
I typically use my headphones for calling while on the road. Just easier than a BT for me, I have a hard time finding one that fits comfortably, and the battery consumption of having BT on with the phone makes it borderline for my (new, iPhone) phone battery to last the day. Yay living in the sticks, where 2 bars is GREAT SIGNAL!!!!11eleven

The ensmallened part in your quote seems to be optional on public transportation here...
