Shouldn't Amazon Prime day be on a day that is a prime number?
Prime Day returns July 12, ...
-
-
@Karla if January 1, 2016 is day 0, then July 12, 2016 is day 193, which is prime.
...or if you started counting from 1 and forgot to count February 29...
-
@FrostCat I've tried writing code in comic sans. It's actually not bad! Very relaxing.

In a "Beyond the mountains of madness lies the valley of tranquility" way?

July is the seventh month of the year. 7 + 12 = 19, which is prime.

Not in a leap year. I checked before I posted.
-
@abarker Or simply 127, with the date in the order normal countries use.

But why would you add them? It's a minus sign.
2016-07-12 is 1997, which is prime...

They could have used:
Feb 3rd
Feb 5th
Feb 7th
March 2nd
May 2ndI imagine they don't fit in their marketing calendar.
-
@anotherusername Because if they do it every year on the same day it will be a different number.
-
@Karla well, 12-7 is 5, which is also prime...
edit: scratch that, last year Prime Day was July 15, and 15-7 is not prime.

2015-07-15 = 1993 is prime!

@abarker I did figure that out too as Google asked "Did you mean..."
-
@Karla Suspected that, but I couldn't let someone be wrong on the internet!
-
I had no idea what that meant. I assumed from context it meant a prime number between two other things but I'm not a maths person.

Honestly couldn't tell it's so blurry.
Revisiting that: No, it's not blurry because I'm squinting (or genetically part asian, but I assume that's past the point).

Google lied to me. Or copy failed. Whatever, I'm on mobile so that's diffetent

Bing, OTOH, gives a bunch of results for something called "mezzanine financing" and a financial company with Prime in its name that, I guess, does that sort of financing, whatever it is.
-
@abarker I actually wasn't sure if it were a regional difference or a translation to another language. I do not recall where @Jaloopa lives.
I refused to be wrong on the internet about someone being wrong on the internet.

Long as I don't have to read it in Comic Sans.

I'm one of that 10%. I've heard various descriptions of parts of it both from people who have watched every shred of it and people who have merely glanced at a few selected moments. I will give the faithful viewers the benefit of the doubt that these descriptions paint a picture every bit as inaccurate as the descriptions of anime that make a lot of people who've never seen it think it's all about schoolgirls being raped by tentacled robots.

@da-Doctah said in The Official Funny Stuff Thread™:

Me too, but for a different reason. The descriptions I've heard so far made an impression I might like the show but I have too many on-going shows I watch already and I'd rather just watch it all in one go when the series is finished (realistically that is improbable while R.R. is alive and churning out heaps of new books).
-
@da-Doctah People think hentai is anime? I don't watch either...my husband has explained. My kids are into anime.
-
@Karla I watched 3 episodes and decided that while it wasn't bad, it wasn't worth binge-watching either. Does that count?
I might still read the books, though. It's fantasy, so I might enjoy the books more than the TV show.
-
@asdf Sure, it counts. Because everyone else is so rabid about it.

I am also in this category, but more because I'm not really interested in a story where anyone I like will die. As to the second thing you mentioned, it happens sooner or later in most things.

I read the books before the show existed. I don't get HBO, so have only seen a couple episodes when at a motel. I like the books better. Way better. Still waiting (and waiting and waiting and waiting) for the next (last?) book...

Nah, just 2 years. The show overtook the books and has decided to end after 2 more seasons. They're short seasons, too, so your binge watching won't be too bad.
