@Bulb this would be a good opportunity to shit on anything from Windows to web stuff, with their incredible amount of dependencies nobody understands.
But your observation goes deeper: even Intel doesn’t know anymore what their processors are doing and learned the hard way that e.g. their speculative execution isn’t as side effect free as they thought.
-
@topspin fact: Every year there are fewer and fewer graduates who majored in silicon design. When the current generation of Intel engineers retire, there may not be any replacements. Then computers will finally be universally magic; no-one is left who understands them.

I thought we had a "Fun with maps" thread where this could reasonably go, but I can't find it, so I'm putting it here. If it's out there some place, you're welcome to jeff it to that thread instead:
Why are all the first halves misspelled so badly in the last column?
Also, Norm and Danen stole the flag of Scania.

Not when running Windows
I don't know I'm on a Mac and the latest docker version has been working very intermittently.

This movie was way ahead of its time

@Mason_Wheeler Until they cast Margot Robbie as Barbie, this was the best example of casting on record. If Christopher Lloyd had not existed, or had otherwise been unavailable, who would you have cast as Doc Brown?
(My choices would have been John Lithgow, or if he too was not available, Matt Frewer, which would have had the additional effect of both of the actors pictured above being Canadian.)

I dunno about that. That slightly deranged look to her face that made her such a perfect Harley Quinn? Not really what you want for Barbie...

What can you do? Lene Grawford Nystrøm was too old by the time they got around to filming.

Dammit, 40k was supposed to be satire.

I wonder if that would have affected the creation of Max Headroom, which starred Frewer in the titular role and debuted in April 1985, only a couple of months after BTTF principle photography wrapped.
I can’t (quickly) find any notes on when Max Headroom was filmed or produced, only its broadcast debut.

@TimeBandit Computers are fully logical. The problem is that the specification is so absurdly huge that nobody has a clue what it actually said any more.
You're saying the spec is sufficiently advanced?

Yes, yes you are. Doc Brown has a very distinctive voice and it stays with you.

Get working toilet doors? Maybe with some actual privacy like they do in other countries? Pay teachers a decent wage so that we don't scrape the bottom of the barrel most of the time?

That would explain why all the voices sound the same.

I can summon voices in my head, but I never read in any voice.

I always wondered what the point is of having 5 inch gaps between the hinges, almost like it’s intentionally bad.

I certainly saw it dubbed, and can't recall if I saw a subtitled version before. that movie is old
But I can't recall the voice of any other person. I can barely recognize the voice of close familiars

I typically read in arbitrary voices until I recognize that it's supposed to be someone specific. This gets interesting when context is not yet available and the evident speaker changes mud-sentence....
