@JBert That was damn good. I wouldn’t have guessed the military bands play cool stuff like that.

Ice. Dangerous stuff. Ban it.

@Tsaukpaetra That looks like my car — not the actual gauges, but the way they behave. The pointer on the tachometer actually broke off from slamming back and forth like that. According to the internet, it's due to cracked solder joints on one of the circuit boards in the instrument cluster, which I could fix in a few seconds with a soldering iron — except that it's several hours worth of work to disassemble the entire interior of the car to get to the circuit board.

I agree with the Internet. It's an easy thing to wear down if manufactured less than expensively.

That's not very typical, I’d like to make that point. Most buses are built so the front doesn’t fall off at all.

@dkf It's a reference to

@Tsaukpaetra I know the cluster on older Chevys can have problems. When mine went out, several needles read too low, and it would tell me the engine was running at 300 RPM while going 70 MPH on the highway with an 8,000-pound trailer behind me, and the oil pressure down in the red.

Jesus Christ, Marie! They’re minerals!
-
@topspin Actually probably more effective that way, because at least you'll laugh when you look at them and "laughter's the best medicine."

Just today I replaced the stepper motor in my 05 Impala. Those things are notorious for wearing out and going bad.

@Tsaukpaetra I think there's a substantial difference between "farming" and "mining"
Something along the lines of "production"...

@kazitor Why do we dig huge holes in the ground for rocks to burn and smelt? Why not use surface rock?
