I mean, that's expensive even for flying gear.
But also

Why does it seem unreasonable to you that production servers wouldn't have outbound access to the Internet? Why would they?
How else do you log in with TeamViewer to run a quick update on the database?

@sloosecannon I forgot that you were part of CAP. You already knew that. :)
Yeah, but the Bose ones are nice. Less hot and stuffy and heavy than passives. Unfortunately, when the batteries go dead you can't hear as well once the noise cancelling dies out.

Oh yea, they're really nice. I got to play with a demo at Oshkosh. Just... ow. Money.

Find a bigger hole and it will fit just fine.

E_DENIED (Larger peg is now required)

For the curious:
OMGWTFBBQ This was working just fine!
And then I decided to rename a column (typo) in the database, whereupon refreshing the model from the database now has the same exact (unrelated by the way, I didn't touch the above) code failing with:
An exception of type 'System.NotSupportedException' occurred in EntityFramework.dll but was not handled in user code Additional information: Unable to create a constant value of type 'mydb.CHAR_PartsOwned'. Only primitive types or enumeration types are supported in this context.
You were doing it just fine three days ago, a column name change shouldn't change your mind like that!!!
-
Hmmm, working with new hosting provider. Account on their AD domain is SA(System Administrator)(Last Name)(First Name)"E8x5". The only other SA I've seen on the server is SA(Last Name)(First Name)"ME6bq". Taking bets as to what they're using for disambiguation before I go ahead and look it up in their documentation tomorrow.

@tsaukpaetra said in The Official Status Thread:

And in fact, it didn't.
Just that, prior to today, no character had any owned parts, and so the queryable just skipped that part (apparently) and went on its merry way.
Now that there are results returned, apparently the PartsOwned is now an in-memory representation and cannot be shunted back into an actual query, so I'm stuck with
.ToList()
ing the db.CHAR_Parts section, completely obviating the point of sticking these things into the one table!FML

STATUS: Back to work after summer holiday. Now pretty much the rest of the month is plenty meetings and planning the new year until the next summer holiday. Woo. Also, a 10-hour drive for a work trip at the end of the month. Yay!
Also, bad thing: Login to the scheduling and planning site has expiring passwords. Good thing: Site doesn't keep a password history or a "vastly different" policy so can just cycle two passwords with a changed letter.
Also, it's the only system with expiring passwords. The Google Work account is, well, Google. And the salary and time reporting is its own ball-of-WTF, although without expiring passwords.

We had our planning meetings last week. Today is first week: a mostly useless time where students are separated by grade level for activities while the junior class is in the mountains of North Carolina. Oh, and an overnight trip with 125 tenth graders and 10 adults. Fun times.
Classes start next Monday, with a schedule disruption due to the eclipse. They've ordered glasses for the entire school and we're going to have to ride herd on them so no one sunburns their retinas. More fun times.

that does not look
- Hygenic
- Safe for internal use, let alone in the genital region
- Desirable to use as an insertable toy
I mean @Perverted_Vixen might try it, but she's willing to try anything and everything. I'm sure she'd try a blue whale if she could figure out how.

Last time we had a significant eclipse here, we viewed it reflected in a black bucket of water. Low tech, but worked well at reducing the intensity.

Status: Wife tells me this morning:
"Can you check out my brakes sometime today. They feel a little funny."
We have spare vehicles, so no biggie. This afternoon I go to take her vehicle around the block and don't even make it out of the driveway. Brake light is on and the pedal goes almost to the floor.
I investigate and find a mangled hard brake line. No big deal to fix. Cut it off where it is good, flare it, bend up a replacement and flare it, realize I forgot to put on the fittings, bend up another replacement (this time with fittings on), bleed the brakes, good to go.
She comes home:
"One of your brake lines was mangled all to shit, any idea how that happened?"
"Hmmmm, not really....what could cause that?"
"Have you driven off-road?"
"Yeah, the weekend before last when I visited Kristin we drove back to the lake with the kids."Fucking hell. She has been driving with failing brakes for over a week. We had a little discussion about how "Jeep" means "capable off-roader". It does not mean "inde-fucking-structible" and you still have to pay attention...and to let me know if any warning lights come on. :)

Watching Troll 2 while the wife is out with her theatre buddies. It really is as bad as people say. Like, they must be acting this badly on purpose. Just picking 10 random people off the street would result in a better cast than this

The popcorn scene is the absolute zenith of surreal filmmaking. Move over, Un Chien Andalou.

Status: We obviously have an asocial asshole living in our appartments. Pretty much all of my neighbours are great people. Except for this guy which he exemplified today.
So, the street leading up to our houses is a dead-end road which has a "Stopping expressly forbidden on Wednesday morning" on one side because otherwise the garbage disposal truck won't be able to reach the waste bins.
Last week someone parked there with two cars and today the same two cars parked there again. Which means that our waste bin has been full for two weeks now.
I was able to talk to that guy when he finally moved his car (singular, as in: only one) and he basically is an asshole: He doesn't care, he scoffs at the piddly fines and he thinks he's the greatest.
Well, he obviously forgot that he doesn't own his appartment but is only a renter. And the company who rents the appartments doesn't really care about pulling those stunts.
