You know it's bad when even Task Manager can't be closed in a timely manner...
Meanwhile, I think the disk is stuck...
Hmm.... Time to test for bad blocks?
-
@Tsaukpaetra Seems to me like that hardware is well and truly up shit creek. I hope there's nothing of value on that disk (without it being backed up), since you're probably not getting it back.
-
God damn it, debug build of Firefox (I need SSLTRACE) won't launch on the system on which I need it.
DLL blocklist was unable to intercept AppInit DLLs Assertion failure: false (MOZ_ASSERT_UNREACHABLE: Unrecognized opcode sequence), at [...]\nsWindowsDllInterceptor.h:1106
YEAH, YOU KNOW WHY THAT IS, FIREFOX?! BECAUSE YOU'RE DOING SOMETHING A FUCKING BROWSER HAS NO BUSINESS DOING. FUCK YOU.

Yeah no, this is a test box of sorts, I'm evaluating FreeNAS 10 (aka Corral) on it before I slate it for installation on the actual Server box (aka BobTheBuilder, currently running Windows 10 Pro as the "server").
Just today they fixed an issue where Active Directory caches were becoming corrupt and attempting to refresh them broke authentication entirely.
I'm waiting on the FreeBSD devs to update their virtualization engine
bhyve
so that it supports creating VMs with more than 16 cores...

an issue
So I issued a reboot command. Through an already-connected SSH session, because attempting to log into the box normally was timing out (probably on account of the stuck disk).
sshd apparently died correctly.
The thing hasn't come up in 15 minutes, and I'm not driving to the office to check what it's doing...
Oh well, Monday comes soon enough! :D

Apparently trying to make sure buffer overflow attacks wouldn't work? Maybe?

Is there a way to keep it after today? I sit kinda crooked and this almost perfectly lines up the text now!

My company is in penny pinching mode so I've done a back of the envelope calculation. It took our company about £100 of man hours to expense the £1.85 of ice cubes I bought for office cocktail night.
I sense it's time to look else where for employment.

So, not only is it completely unfunny, it's also breaking things.
Well done, Ben

My phone renders the site more slowly than usual today, though.

Nah, just not impressed with site breakage in the name of a childish prank

@RaceProUK this site is supposed to be entertaining, pranks are OK. Just the "x time later" made it hard to use

Site breakage seems like an extreme term.
Some CSS didn't work in Mafia...

So, I was arguing with this Brexiteer. One of his key arguments: They were routinely outvoted.
So I took a look. According to Wikipedia, in 2008 there were a 147 Council decisions, of which 128 passed unanimously. The rest had 32 abstentions with only eight real counter votes. Oh, and those counter votes? None of them were by the UK.
But maybe that changed recently? October 2016: 8 decisions, no counter votes by the UK. November 2016: 8 decisions, no counter votes by the UK. I'm pretty sure that I could go back all the way to 2002 and find no real difference.
Yeah, "regularly" my ass.

Status: Apparently code I was using to prevent text from being selected on the page (i.e. to make it more "App" like) also makes it impossible to type text on said page.
But only for iPhones.
Because COURAGE.
FWIW, this is what I was using (from SO, no less):
/* Don't allow selecting text */ * { user-select: none; -khtml-user-select: none; -o-user-select: none; -moz-user-select: -moz-none; -webkit-user-select: none; }
Oh well, no big loss.

Fuck Nvidia with their crappy out of tree Linux driver. Wish they go out of business in the wave of GPU cloud. Some smart GPU manufacturer should step in and replace their ass.

Well, I was! Don't you see that little bullet hole there? :P
Though, to be fair, the concern was that people could merely tap-and-hold and download the pictures or something from the page.
Like I said, no big loss. :D

Realized the obvious: I can drop the debug nss3.dll into a regular Firefox build and I have all the SSLTRACE I need. So that'll be pretty useful to me in development. Still can't use it for diagnosing SSL issues in production because application firewall. But there are workarounds. Ideas...

@dse I made an attempt to install LMDE on my work laptop. It failed because the AMD driver fails on boot, so I couldn't even get into the live environment. Maybe with the correct set of command line options, but cba to figure which ones will make it magically work. Guess I'll keep using regular Mint, which has no issues at all. Shitty graphics drivers on Linux seems to be an issue regardless of manufacturer.

@RaceProUK oh, thanks! I've used malwarebytes before, I didn't know they had an adware cleaner (Though I should have guessed)

malwarebytes, followed by a full scan of your AV followed by malwarebytes again.
ideally from safemode, but honestly if your AV is windows defender and you're on ten that's probably overkill, and is a pain in the ass to trigger anyway
