@Maciejasjmj I abandoned Swiftkey about two years ago when some update literally fucked the whole mess. That issue also related to the shift key and a change in flow behavior.

I thought that had more to do with whether your NIC driver supports it and/or whether there are any routers between you and the device you're trying to snoop on...

@Weng I recommend T9
-
@lucas1 how do you type at a reasonable speed with t9? Last time i used it must have been 6-7 years ago and it was pretty crappy
-
@bb36e Faster fingers.
That what I tell the ladies anyway.
Honestly it isn't that hard to type fast on those older systems you just need to understand how the predictive text works.
Most people before the iPhone came out were using a Nokia and if my dad knows how to use T9 you should too.
BTW the last time my dad tried to use anything that was newer than the 1970s he ended up modifying it with a hacksaw.

T9 kind of sucked. The dictionaries weren't good enough to actually make your typing faster compared to ABCs, and you had to look at the screen and double-check the predictions instead of relying on touch-typing.
-
@Maciejasjmj Nonsense. I was the SMS generation of mobile phones and we had no problems.

Hm? I could touch-type with regular ABC with no problem. I couldn't with T9 since it just resulted in me sending stupid shit to people.
-
If 1 is an ABC button
- Press 1 once
- wait
- Press 1 twice
- wait
- Press 1 three times.
If you want to do it super fast you deliberately make a mistake, like my ex GF did to break the flow of the app and then retype. People in the UK could do this very quickly back in the early 2000s.

But you didn't have to do that with T9, because you could press the same key twice quickly and get two letters. You did have to do that with ABCs, because normally another press would just give you another letter on the key and you'd have to wait.
Perhaps we're not talking about the same thing. T9 was the dictionary-assisted typing method where you only needed to press a single key per letter and the dictionary took care of the rest. ABCs (well, not sure if that's what it was called, but most phones had a variation of the "ABC" icon) was the manual one where you needed to press, say, 2 once for A, twice for B etc.

@anotherusername
That used to be the case, but with a Win10/S2016 box, WinPcap's remote packet capture driver no longer works, because the NDISv5 API that the service relies on (which has been deprecated since the release of Windows Vista / Server 2008) was removed from Win10.There's a fork of the WinPcap project, NPcap, which uses the NDISv6 API... but it doesn't support remote packet captures at this point in time. And for a Hyper-V Generation 2 VM, the synthetic network drivers don't work with Wireshark without the pcap driver, so to get things working you have to install NPcap, then Wireshark (just the tshark command line utility, if you're working with Server 2016 Core -- no Desktop Experience), and then capture locally and ship the files somewhere else for review.
MS also has a utility to do packet captures (since S2012), but...
- It's not built in, it's still separate software to install
- It doesn't have any option to generate pcap compatible output files directly, meaning you either have to install the viewer (and the format's a lot worse to read than the Wireshark UI), or install a separate tool to convert the file to pcap.

Swiftkey flow
I recently turned it back on and my biggest gripe with it is that it doesn't work in a locked popup. So if I get a text while my screen's off, I have to either manually type it
like a cavemannormal Swiftkey style or unlock my phone and actually open my SMS app.

They have no clue what a floppy is. They just know this icon is the save icon, for reason unknown to them.
