Aren't those only for exercise reprieve? How were you sleeping when everyone was standing up, kneeling, and sitting?

Status: It worked before I touched it.
It also had a major single-threaded performance bottleneck before I touched it. I still think I should have been focusing on algorithmic improvements instead but I got outvoted and outranked.

Status: So, turns out that this 2000 € USB spectrometer I have doesn't have 32bit drivers available - at least that's what I'm inferring from
a) the pathological info that Windows couldn't find a driver even when pointed to the right directory and
b) the fact that the .inf-file contains mentions to Windows 2000 and has a timestamp that puts the last modification in 2010.Now, take a guess what type of OS is nowhere to be found at our school since the big changeover last summer?
Anyone know if a Windows 7 under Hyper-V can access USB-ports directly?

It's going to depend on the Hyper-V server version, but the answer is generally some variant of "not well, if at all".

which is technically non-free and closed source, but they helpfully allow you to use for free for personal use..... and i've never found out how to get it licensed for commercial use..... so they probably don't care....

Status VirtualBox and Windows 7 seem to work fine - I could successfully hand over the USB device to the Guest VM and the driver did install.
For my next trick, I'll try to speed up things a bit so the guest isn't slow as molasses.

USB 1.1 and below is fine, it's when you want 2.0 and up that you have to do the needful with agreements.
