@accalia Blowfish is... Kind of a weird choice.
-shrug- it's an odd one to be sure, but looking over the comment threads on their forums and the history of the company it really reads like blowfish was chosen before AES was ratified and they migrated the pro tier (which is only 120$/yr for one device btw) to AES but didn't migrate the home tier for..... well any number of reasons ranging from makes business sense (don't force home customers to redo their backups in the new encryption as that will piss them off and cause you to lose customers) to the well intentioned but flawed, all the way to sketch tastic.
they do offer a AES based solution that's reasonably priced, and for both home and pro they do allow you to choose a decryption key that is never sent to their servers, it's just not the default for either. (i use the custom encryption key though! because they can't unlock it with a key they don't have. it's personal data so if the feds want it i'm not going to fight it, but by god i'm gonna know if they want it!)

Status: Still in low performing mode because it's increasingly difficult for me to get into "the flow" while I'm losing loyalty of working here.
But the worst problem is that, as we are transforming pineapples into apples (copying tables from one system to another) by chopping off bits, I have concern on what will happen if the customer as me to automagically transform the data back into the original system. This is simply not good. :(

Nope. It requires separate middleware.

Status: Almost done bifurcating our to-disk logging framework from our to-database logging framework. This allows database errors to be logged to disk.
Fixing all the edge case errors in the to-db logging which are now no longer devnulled has already taken an order of magnitude more time than actually fixing the framework.

Status: In TFS, when it's time to check in, it normally looks like this:
- Right click the directory your solution is in in source control explorer, and get latest.
- If you have conflicts, resolve them.

In Git, when it's time to check in, it normally looks like this:
- Commit your changes locally.
- Change branches to local master.
- Sync remote master to local master.
- Change branches to your branch.
- Attempt to sync from local master to your branch.

We're using Perforce in my new place (wasn't my choice, apparently TFS didn't play nice with Unreal Engine or something).
It's halfway between Git and TFS I think.
-
@Tsaukpaetra Turns out my steps 4 and 5 were bogus and unneeded.
But yeah, I don't know much about perforce, other than no one I've talked to liking it at all. I can't imagine TFS having a problem with unreal though...

@Magus said in The Official Status Thread:

Yeah, they wouldn't tell me and it was before my time.
They're also checking in binary blobs from
bin
andobj
folders by default (the whole perforce datastore is nearly filling the 1tb drive attached to it).

@Magus said in The Official Status Thread:
In Git
- Commit your changes to local branch
- Sync with remote tracking branch
- Resolve conflicts, commit merge and resync if needed.
You can model the TFS workflow in Git fairly well. If your branching policy sucks and makes you switch between branches like a madman, well, that's the problem with your branching policy.
Our flow is generally the above, with occasional merge from/to master branch once the story branch is completed. Ideally there's also a develop branch where you can sync up different stories, but we don't have that for raisins.

WTF where did things go so wrong!?!

I don't know how many of you knew about IndieStatik, but it used to be a cool part of the indie gaming community before the scandal. Well, the YouTube channel was recently sold to a 14 year old kid who promptly deleted all the hundreds of videos of content and turned it into his own personal let's play channel to target the leftover subscriber base. No idea if any of the videos are archived anywhere. Sad times.

You just listed the exact same three steps twice and just because you were more verbose for the last 8, you think Git is bad?
The list of things you have to do with ANY version control system to send your code changes is:
- Pull remote changes
- Merge any conflicts by hand
- Push local changes to remote
There is no version control system that has any other steps.

Tonight's build has some Firefox fixes, for you Luddites who like inferior browsers.
I'm rendering frames only when the board state changes, because Firefox canvas drawing is apparently only 1/10th as fast as Chrome.
I'm intercepting backspace keypresses from navigating away from the game, because Firefox somehow thought that was a good shortcut to keep even though you'd almost always want to use it to delete a character.
So fear not, users of awful browsers! You are supported!
Filed under: Also, I enabled production mode in Angular. I don't really know what that does.

@Luhmann said in The Official Status Thread:

My mistake, I thought the syncing was to get two new icons on your system tray, only one of which is closable, and then watch as the sync downloads 2-4 files and then starts failing due to spurious authorization/permission issues.

@coldandtired it's not hacking if you're not typing madly, possibly two to a keyboard.
Mr. Robot is better than most shows about hacking, but there's a fair bit of added drama too.

@Maciejasjmj part of the problem is that the integration is terrible; you can't sync from the ui if there are conflicts.
-
@Magus said in The Official Status Thread:

...huh? You try to sync, and VS shows you a list of conflicted files, letting you do the merge. Unless you broke something, or unless VS has one of its rare fits where it thinks you have uncommitted changes, you don't need to drop to the Git shell.
