@dkf None, that we can find. I've tracked down a query that's inexplicably taking up to 2000 seconds. It's not a trivial query, but not 2000 seconds!
And it just started yesterday. Something weird is going on.

That just means you need to look harder. :(
If you're unlucky, the real problem is that you've just tipped over a point where you push the system into a different behaviour mode. That sort of thing is awful when it happens as things aren't actually wrong, just not working as you'd anticipated. Had this happen to me in a system (years ago) where a query was executed quickly in synchronous mode in testing, but going into production added a couple of seconds to the running time of the query pushing the overall webservice to switch to asynchronous mode, which had a lot more overhead (which didn't matter for the usual things that used that way of working, but mattered a heck of a lot for my application). It took a lot of work to hunt down what was happening even with the authors of all the components involved in the one room looking at the sources.
I'm not saying that this is your problem, but sometimes unexpected stuff happens without there being any bugs or meaningful changes.

STATUS:
Just realized Audible has been quietly leeching my credit card for a year and a half after I forgot to cancel my trial membership.
It's only after I changed my credit card that they were like: "Akhm. We can no longer leech your money. Pls fix."
Good news - I can now get 6 audio books on account of my past payments.
Bad news - I actually paid for like 15 fucking books, which is now money wasted due to their delightful "6 month rollover policy".I guess I'll just swallow the $150 loss and consider it a payback for the thousands of pirated ebooks in my treasure trove.
TLDR: An adult should take control of my finances and put me on back on allowance.

I suspect this plus hardware issues. Which hardware is several years past EOL. I've found several queries that were fine with Oracle 11, but turned to crap when we upgraded to 12. However, that was several months ago and the pathological performance just started yesterday, so there's something else going on here.

Edit: Oh. Oracle. Probably something even dumber.

@cartman82 If you dingle support they may give you credits to compensate.
They're obscenely nice. I once inquired why it took a few days past my renewal for my credits to show up (the answer was "raisins") and they just gave me credits. I wasn't complaining, just asking.

Or cached query plans are suddenly massively wrong. Any queries that have different logic or can return either bugger all or shitloads of results?

I don't see that happening with these.

@JazzyJosh Catholicism I expect.

It feels weird for them to consider that particular story "in continuity", since it ended up with Tank Girl making Booga a quadruple amputee for tricking her into eating Xmas Pudding off his erection.
Oh, Tank Girl.

Unless you're proposing Google develop an entirely separate download process just for the sake of a (theoretically) one-time event?
When I got home, my 5X wanted to do an OS update for June 2016. When it rebooted, it recompiled (all 7 of my) apps. Then it immediately wanted to do an update for July, and duly recompiled my apps again. So that makes 3 times in one day, which hopefully is unusual.

All of my external hard drives using the laptop (2.5) size drives use that connector. It's ok, I guess.
Where else are you going to put the superspeed lines? USB 3 micro B is a clear extension of USB2 micro B. Perhaps they should've come up with a non-backwards-compatible connector, sure, but at least this way you can plug a regular 2uB plug into a 3uB socket.

Ours happened last Thursday. Internal queries are fine, but a particular server now all of the sudden can't load data over the connection. It's almost 600x slower than normal and that's been screwing with business processes ever since then.

Was I complaining? Sorry, didn't mean to come off that way.
People were bashing on micro USB connectors. I said the 3 version was ok. Make of that what you will I guess...

Lorne's Pro Tip of the day.
Any trial membership that requires providing a Credit Card number is either a scam, or a quasi-legit billing operation that is indistinguishable from a scam. You will get screwed.

I don't know. I took a Hulu free week. I cancelled, and they said wait! We'll give you another month free! Then I cancelled, and a few months later they emailed me begging to try another free week, and when I cancelled that, they gave me another free month...

Every time someone makes a bad decision and kills themself "FOUR. MILLION. DOLLARS! THIS GAME IS SO BAD!"
The game is hard, yes. It has lives, yes. It has instant death traps, yes. But it isn't unfair. It's probably more fair than even Battletoads of all things.
People are now using anti-hype for profit, since watching people rage is what Youtube is all about.

Status: All-hands meeting.
First question: "Morale's really crappy"
Second question: "Is management aware that morale's really crappy? And so on.
The CEO gave a long involved answer about how important the work we're doing is and how critical everybody at the company is towards our success, which is a great answer for CEO-type people, but it kind of missed the point.
What the developers want to know is, how come there have been no promotions or significant raises in 2 years? How come the company has a "bonus plan" which hasn't paid any bonuses in 2 years? Why is our hiring so slow?
Nobody's debating that what the company does is useless or a terrible idea or that it's circling the drain. The problem isn't the strategy, but the tactics.
Sigh.

Problems with not enough sales or other income, but not obviously far too little? That might have those symptoms.

@dkf The problem in the dev organization is that our CTO is simultaneously way too hands-on and way too hands-off.
What I mean is it considers himself kind of co-CEO and accompanies the CEO everywhere and does financing pitches and such.
But at the same time, he doesn't attend our retrospectives or sprint plannings, he rarely attends meetings or even just comes over and chats with us (his office is on the other side of the building).
-
@blakeyrat said in The Official Status Thread:

Maybe, but I bet the real problem is on the money side. It's possible to hide stuff there for quite a while, but the stink starts to seep through everything. It particularly hits hiring, promotions and raises first, and that craters morale, which in turn makes everything worse. :(
