Status: Oh FFS, how hard could it be to design the headband so that the clips are in the right direction!
The "optional" band that goes over top the head is actually backwards to clip in to the rest of the band, so instead of a nice curve around your head, it tries to dimple...

Status: going back to C++ after 4 years of mainly Python. Had forgotten, what a relief it is to write-once run-everywhere. Code that works perfectly fine in Visual Studio but clang spits out 200 lines of totally unreadable template error, to just say: You cannot have a class and as its member a map with that class as value! Incomplete types, what make clang an asshole for trying to be pedantic instead of doing the right thing. why? answer is not, go read the fucking standard's wording.

That's odd. I should not be able to open this website, since I've closed the port in the firewall.
Docker?
Yes?
Why are you messing directly with my iptables?
Mumble mumle You told me so! Remember that -p flag?
Docker, I would me much obliged if you could see it in you to stop doing that, and let me control the open ports myself withufw
. Or at least find a way to tellufw
what you are doing so that I can actually see which ports are open.
grumble
Ok. Let me put this in terms that you will understand:sudo echo 'DOCKER_OPTS="--dns 8.8.8.8 --dns 8.8.4.4 --iptables=false" ' >> /etc/default/docker sudo service docker restart

Knowing how much you love git, @blakeyrat, may I draw your attention to https://www.gitkraken.com/ ? I've spent all of five minutes playing with it, and it certainly does look nice.

Dear Student,
When I asked you to create a project on github for the course and mail me the link, I did so because this is the place I will be watching. I will even be emailed everytime you make a commit; that's how closely I am following. You can not come to me half an hour before I leave for vacation and tell me that "I created another repository three months ago where I have put all my assignment completions. Why you no mark them?"

More museum today. I was sitting near an 11-year-old Polish girl who was wearing a T-shirt with the text 'No Money, no Honey', but I was too tired to find her parents to ascertain whether they understood what it meant.

Status: Actually missing a discourse feature.
I kind of miss the old "display replies context" options, both forward and backwards, in Discourse. They're most noticeably missing in these types of long threads.
But maybe I'm just scarred by the experience of losing one's place during a 20 minute wait while Discourse tried to load the post you wanted to jump back to...

I think that particular schtick's played out. You should be one of three people who start an unofficial HL thread.

Ech, older model. With the advent of better nanotech most of those externally-facing components have been largely minimized.
We even figured out how to prevent hair and other such dermis-decorations from detaching, and have utilized some aspects back into the system!

the search engine is called Cortana, so even if you turned off all the snoopy stuff, cortana.exe's still running.
Also, CCSS gets installed by default. Annoying, but a known thing. You should be able to just right-click it in Start and uninstall it.

And pray it doesn't come back. (Actually, in all the fast ring updates, it hasn't. 'Get Office' on the other hand can die in a fucking fire. It comes back every update. And takes 2 uninstalls to convince it to stay away - until the next update. Ok, maybe if I waited 10 minutes before uninstalling it would take 1. Fuck that shit.)
