Fun fact: if you dig deep enough into the modem stack in your 2015 mobile phone, it still uses Hayes commands to do the actual work.
Unless you actually want to do something more than bog-standard stuff. Like getting the IMSI or ICCID of the SIM card. or the IMEI of the modem. And the
AT
commands don't cut it because the modem provider didn't provide a Hayes interface to it.Then you're into HDLC. Or CnS. Or Qualcomm's propitiatory protocol for which you need an NDA to work with. Welcome to my world.

if you could grab the current values of /index.yml when you see that sort of thing it would help me debug.

A mobile phone is just an expensive and fancy wrapper around the SIM card. The SIM card actually does all the (mobile network related) work.
And how to you explain the phones on networks that don't use SIMs (CDMA carriers)? What does the mobile network related work there?
-
expect?
no. but i would be grateful if you were inclined.
-
What does the mobile network related work there?
Strangely... the modem. The network still has the basic concept of a SIM however - it just cannot be physically removed from the rest of the modem.

I suspected as much. I got distracted reading that CDMA carriers are switching protocols now so that they can provide 4G LTE services. That means SIMs for all!

no. but i would be grateful if you were inclined.
do you really think that will work based on the blakey response he used?
-
no, but tjat is no reason to be rude.

Did they put some math.random in their control function while parking?

Read more to me like he was messing about
Obviously, it was someone other than blakey using a blakey response.

Trying out Win10 on my tablet. Turns out quote selection is still broken, but differently - instead of eating selection handles, it now eats the button.
But you can still reply with the Reply button, so...yay, improvement?
(also, the damn system is a confused fucking mess on the tablet. Pretty much the whole tablet experience is gone, and the damn taskbar won't hide even with full-screen Modern apps in tablet mode. Hope they fix this.)

So you won't just type an answer to the IM, but you will screenshot it and post it here.
Ok.

Notice how it said you were away and also that you were in a game? Also, what could I have possibly replied? "yes, that sounds like a good idea"?

Cat's do not perform orally on each other. They always do it doggy style.

Status: Reading up on a ticket for the next sprint so I can get a headstart on it; turns out it's about implementing a dashboard tile so users can, with just one or two clicks, ask for information on contractor's insurance, stuff like that.
In other words, it's my job to implement… an ad.

Status: Been staring at code that was just insisting on replacing a string with the empty string. Turns out that I'd flipped the sense of the test in the loop that scans for points to apply the transformation to (all easily done in assembly).
No, writing it in another language wouldn't be easier at the moment.
