@groo I thought a contractor was okay until he started falsifying his timesheets so....
Look, I'm not at all saying they shouldn't hire him, just that they should be allowed to not hire him.

Yeah, and there's no reason the government should force people to hire folks with bad judgement.
They tought the boy was ok until they understood he cant cover that, so that's not it, it's really only about his appearence.
So what? If he had a forehead tattoo that said "I shat in the soup" they would also be not hiring him due to his appearance.

But what about the sexual deviants who like shat soup? By discriminating against him you're also discriminating against them!

Unlike the #SocialJustice types, I realize that someone will be discriminated against and I know how to do a basic cost/benefit analysis. ;)

@Karla I'm going to guess nothing on your face, neck, or hands, though.
I've considered for years getting a Celtic knotwork design on my ring finger, under where my wedding ring goes. But I have a pretty large vein right under the surface there and I don't know how much, if any, that would complicate things.
-
@groo To a lot of people, knuckle tats probably suggest "criminal". A store doesn't want that potential association with their customer base, that's their right. The kid can get a job elsewhere, presumably.
Actually, these days quite a few (for example) Wal-Mart cashiers wear (I assume) nitrile gloves to avoid spreading germs. I don't know if that's a thing in England yet or not, but if it were, it would probably cover the knuckles, as well as the one on the back of his hand.
-
When my mother was having some of the health problems that marked the last three or four years or her life, she found it relaxing to visit a beauty parlor for various treatments. One of the girls working at the place she went had an assortment of tats on her arms, right where Mom would be looking at them as she got her hair fussed with.
I asked the young lady if she wouldn't mind pulling down her sleeves a bit to cover the one with the skull. Some customers don't need a traditional symbol of mortality looking at them from close range.

Wal-Mart cashiers
Yeah, Wal-Mart isn't a high street store. In Wal-Mart people see you wearing gloves and think "hell yeah I'd wear gloves if I had to touch something these people have touched, just look at these filthy freaks" but in a high street store it wouldn't be taken so well.
EDIT: Thinking about this, maybe white cotton gloves wouldn't look so out of place? I don't visit high street stores myself so I wouldn't know.

Not typically with cashiers. Food service yes, money handling no.

no, it'd have been completely shattered on the first impact and he'd have been able to walk right through the opening.

Yes. IMGUR gifs (or frankly, any non-static-image type media on that site) don't work on Mobile because the embed given by iframely is retarded.

Only if he then used the keg to clear the very large shards still sticking out of the frame.

Two on legs, front-shoulder, upper back, and a tramp stamp. The one on the lower leg is only hidden if I wear pants, which is most of the time--except when I worked from home (which interestingly enough when I got pregnant). A V-neck and other open collars show the front shoulder.
None if it is obnoxious, and all rated G except for the tramp stamp (PG-13).
We thought about the wedding rings idea as well. I like color tats (as pale as I am, I make a great canvas).

LOL
To be serious, we were trying to get pregnant for quite a while and because I had just changed jobs we weren't actively trying and going to wait until the next month. The first week I worked from home did it.
It is very awkward to tell the new boss of 2 months about it. Though, even though an illegal question, I voluntarily told him that I was planning on it.

There were a number of other possible factors that occurred in the month prior to that. Still likely a contributing factor. Including the stress of how to handle maternity leave. I was able to start part-time in about 4 weeks after she was born and slowly increase my hours.
At 4 months, I realized, I must get out of the house. The job I quit...still had my position open. Interviews were all but a formality.
Even better, that many of things that were problem when I left...had changed so the work was much more interesting when I came back.

I think the hole would already be plenty big enough for him to walk through.

There's two things here you're conflating (you probably know these things but didn't state it clearly):
Hardened glass, safety glass, or tempered glass, as mentioned by @HardwareGeek, shatters into lots of tiny cube-ish shapes. They still have sharp edges and can cut you but they won't eviscerate you. Plate glass breaks into shards that can easily eviscerate. Breaking a tempered glass window results in the tiny cubes falling all over the floor. The rest can easily be knocked out of the frame, making a big walk-through hole. The glass in the video is obviously tempered.
Laminated glasses like car windscreens have a layer of film between two sheets of glass, and filmed glass obviously has a film on it. The film keeps the glass mostly in the frame. Plate glass can be laminated as well. The film can be strong enough to stop a beer keg even though the glass shatters. The film on this door doesn't look very strong, it's probably not intended for security and is more likely just a tinted film.

Originally I was being kind of flippant, and yes, was conflating the two kinds. Looks like this door probably had what you say here. But you'd still have to be pretty stupid to worm through the hole like he did, instead of trying to bash it bigger, because even the shattered cubes of tempered glass are sharp.
-

Also because the door was already open! XD
-
@another_sam I was waiting for someone else to notice that!
-
I noticed it, but I think it's also possible that it was originally locked but the repeated blows and/or loss of the glass's rigidity () caused the door's bolt to come out of the frame.
-
@anotherusername Yes, but either way.
-
@Erufael Well, I was really only waiting for someone to notice the lack of any notice before saying I noticed and posting my theory.

Looks like it bounced on the first hit. I'm betting it was open to begin with.
