In all seriousness, awareness of the issue is only now coming to light. My autistic son has been recovered somewhat by changing his diet to gluten- and casiene-free. 7 years ago: windows nailed shut to keep him from climbing out that way and falling to the sidewalk. Today: I can actually have a conversation with him where he understands why that might not be a good idea.
My younger, "normal" son - school was thinking he had ADD due to behavioral problems in class, until we put him on the same diet as my older autistic son. Guess what? ADD symptoms disappeared and he's doing fine in school now.
So based on my personal experience, I can surmise this: 1%...because the other (unknown %) are taking drugs to mask the symptoms, and to that degree the drugs "work" in that they accomplish the goal of suppressing the symptoms (but don't work in fixing the actual cause); or just deal with the discomfort/pain/effects without knowing the cause.
This is why I thought my original comment might be worth considering.

Yesterday I would have responded differently (as in not at all).
Today, however:
Everyone here is a troll.

Your hands are keeping the beer at the right temperature. Thanks!

The only thing that comes to mind that's named "People's" that wasn't a BAD IDEA was The People's Court.

You got something against family restaurants, or just the ones in Corpus Christi?

Doubt it. Unless he's got some Iceman powers.

That one's called "Peoples" restaurant. You'll note:

Thanks for helping out with more BAD IDEAS.

So your more for the Judean People's Front then?

Nude portraits (SFW, yes really). That is to say, the subjects are clothed while the photographer is nude. Some of the facial expressions are amusing.

I heard about it on the radio this morning, they were interviewing protesters, and it just seems like people protesting for the point of protesting. Kinda like the majority of Occupy protesters.

How do you feel about myths of doom masquerading as Science? DOOM!

I think just ignoring climate change is a worse idea
Do bear one thing in mind: climate is something we don't understand very well at the moment - much less well, in fact, than the energy requirements of maintaining (let alone growing) humanity at present levels.
Caution is advised, because we know that rapidly scaling back energy production/consumption will be a disaster - regardless of what the climate is doing.
-
Well said.
-
There is also significant hype, even from "reliable" sources. Every time I hear about climate change, I remember something I saw in National Geographic a number of years ago.
They showed a very interesting graph of historical and current changes in average temperature. There have been periodic changes in world temperature (as reconstructed from glacial ice cores, or something) going back millennia, long before human activity could have had the slightest influence on climate. I forget the details, like the time scale of the changes, or by just how many degrees the temperature changes, but there were several memorable features to be seen by examining the graph.
The temperature changes occur very regularly, almost like heartbeats on an EKG. The temperature rise shown at the time of the article was, if anything, slightly overdue. The temperature increase, as of the time of the article, appeared to be a little larger than typical, but not much. However, the graph ended with a bright red line shooting upward alarmingly. It took a fairly close examination of the graph to realize that this was entirely a projection of the current trend into the future, ignoring the fact that the current trend was consistent with previous cycles and might reasonably be expected to stabilize at near the current level.
National Geographic was largely responsible for helping to cultivate my interest in science as a child, and I have held them in high esteem ever since. That one graph destroyed that.

Obligatory XKCD:

Something like this one:
http://catosdomain.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/american-climate-shift-2.gifWhich shows the temperature spiking exactly once since the earliest Homo Sapiens fossils were found, long before recorded human history begins? I'm sure that's extremely relevant to our ability to survive with civilization intact. Plus the bit at the end totally matches the other 'heartbeat' pulses 100%.
-
Climate change isn't science, it's politics.

Sort of, maybe. A very quick Google (I have real work I'm supposed to be doing) isn't turning up anything like that Nat Geo graph I remember. I think that graph may have been more on the scale of Bond events, but it's been years since I saw it:

It's hard to say exactly what impact the next Ice Age will have on civilization, but it's a sure thing that there will be a major impact, especially if most of the current farmland ends up under glaciers. Or were you talking about a spike induced by increased CO2 levels?
-
All I know about weather/climate prediction is I've burned a lot of unnecessary diesel fuel this summer due to weather predictions claiming 90% chance of rain, so I drive my pickup truck to work instead of my motorcycle, and then it ends up being clear and sunny all day. If they could accurately predict today's weather I'd automagically be emitting less CO2.
-
Climate change isn't science, it's politics.
The moldbug article I posted a link to a while ago has a good point about this. His article claims that sensitive the climate is to CO2 changes isn't falsifiable. My opinion is that it is falsifiable, but not in a time frame that would be useful. The current models would clearly be falsified if they predicted a temperature spike and we got a new ice age instead, but it would be too late for that knowledge to be useful at that point.

I especially like this bit:
The extra sea ice is a good thing, as it reflects sunlight and slows global warming.
According to presentations and reports I've seen from various global warming supporters, this is the exact opposite of what they think would happen. Increased ice coverage reflects the sunlight, yes, but that would work in concert with the greenhouse gasses trapping the energy in the atmosphere, and effectively accelerating global warming.
At least, that's what I've heard. These nut job "scientists" need to get their stories straight.

I hadn't heard that one. I'm not at all surprised that someone has come up with that rationalization, though. It's important to keep the heads-I-win-tails-you-lose strategy air tight.
I'll be more interested to hear what they have to say when they can even figure out the sign of the effect of clouds on climate sensitivity.

It's really not just the journalists. Which is fine, as far as trying to figure out a really wicked problem goes. But don't try to tell us that it's settled or that you have any certainty in your predictions.
