The Official Status Thread

Ben, if you can't leverage your DF and Lojban skills into a career, you should consider becoming a golf color commentator.
The first couple minutes of that video were more a description than a review of the game. I have not yet watched the remainder.
Edit: Having watched the rest, not bad, but if you wanna rake in the big bucks, you need to scream more, swear a lot, and it would probably help if you could develop some cute idiosyncrasy like calling gold "budder".

A friend just copied this from the browser's URL bar:

Yuuup. Not ever using that site...
Weren't we just talking about this in another thread? I remember my answer to, "can you put username & pass in the URL if the site is HTTPS?" was:
- Yes it's secure, but
- None of your users will stand for it
See? Proof Blakeyrat is always right.

Do you know if there's a way to play a video faster than the source in ShotCut? That's the only thing I can't seem to find in the interface.
http://www.shotcut.org/bin/view/Shotcut/Features
It's feature list doesn't mention it. (By "play a video faster" I assume you mean "adjust playback speed of a clip", since it does mention having a scrubber.)
-
Yeah, I want to play a clip back at (eg.) 4x speed with the audio higher pitched and so on, like in my video that I posted earlier in this thread.
I can't figure out the correct terminology for that. Words are hard.
Edit: If I can't get ShotCut to do it, it's not a deal breaker, since all I'd need to do is use a different program to pre-scale the video.
-
I guess "Timelapse" would be the term for it. In Vegas, you do it with a key combo, I'm not even sure the feature has a name (since there's no UI for it other than a squiggly line it shows in the timeline.)
BTW, Vegas only does it 10x at a time, which may or may not be enough. I made a Skyrim mod once that slowed world-time by 20x and I had to do two passes with Vegas to get the resulting video to look correct. (It looked awesome, I should have uploaded it somewhere... or released the mod for that matter...) You could go through an entire dungeon, killing all the creatures, in like 30 seconds game-time (10 minutes real time), then play it back in game-time and your character was basically the medieval Flash, dodging arrows and such.

Dunno. I've just used it to remove my Obama moments in lecture recordings, so I haven't done anything particularly advanced in it.
I presume you do not mean scrubbing or fast-forwarding, since those are covered.
A speed and direction effect is item number 18 on the roadmap. Don't know how long it will take them to get thither, though.

Status: Just learned the hard way that VirtualAlloc (..MEM_COMMIT...) doesn't return an error if the memory is already committed. The memory is not zero-initialized in that case, of course.

It's not that old, in the grand scheme of things - this is where I heard about it (1½ yrs ago):

I'm now a card-carrying member of the Frito Party.

Setting up a billing scheme that would enable the telco to start charging for the call only after it's answered by an actual person.
I'm setting up a mechanism that will send DTMF tones to them. Actual, audible tones. Over SIP. In 2015.

Seems pretty standard for a Telco.

We got rid of Bubb Rubb this year. Now it's only Ric Flair. No Flinstones or Tarzan.

Ahhh, pooping while drinking coffee and posting on TDWTF.
FTFY, given that this is the Status Thread. Also, TMI.

Hmm, should my next Alien Swarm custom campaign review be a good campaign or a bad campaign?

Status: just took a week off starting today. Also today:
- client's test environment blew up with the new version
- my coworker mailed that "lots of shit not working, and I don't have time until afternoon"
- my VPN didn't work
- I ran to the office only to find out that he actually lied and fixed the one table that wasn't there (which made a handful of packages fail to compile)
- client decided he needs a version with cherry-picked changes for now. We can't cherry-pick reasonably, because half of our code is in Oracle packages versioned by migration scripts, and any package change includes all the changes done before.
- I'm pretty much the only developer who was working on the project for the past 2 months, so obviously I have to do it
- they want it by Monday
Oh, and since I'm on a contract and don't have work agreement, all time off I take is unpaid with the timesheets locked out.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.

Good review of any kind of campaign?

Fun fact: if you dig deep enough into the modem stack in your 2015 mobile phone, it still uses Hayes commands to do the actual work.

A mobile phone is just an expensive and fancy wrapper around the SIM card. The SIM card actually does all the (mobile network related) work.

It didn't do what you said, why are you thanking it? Alternatively for a different they are not outputting the actual ID but some 'cleansed' version that is inaccurate. Try what you actually asked for in the later steps, if that works then you know where to apply the .And hanzoed by @RaceProUK

that the customer name was different than the customer ID?
no. that was expected.... although i admit i may have over anonymized that fact.
-

frontpagification?

nope. the ID is the ID. the customer genuinely did not get inserted into the database, but the software reported success
-
Ah, OK then. Just looked like something else due to the name vs. ID being so close with the anoning of it.
