status Today I helped my Uncle Jack off a horse.
Okay, apparently grammar is important and this was ambiguous. Sorry, here:
Today I helped my uncle get off a horse.
Okay I'm really not doing so well with the grammar. Let me try again.
Today myself and my father's brother went to a farm, put our hands on a horse's erect penis, masturbated the horse, and then the horse ejaculated.
There, I think that clears things up.

We can't we've already done Windows 10, so the next one will be Windows 1B. (you really expect marketing to understand hex?!?)
-
@dcon X and P aren't in hex. Nor are M and e.
Clearly Windows marketing uses Base64 and a random number generator.

I'll bet if we decoded it, we'd know marketing's password!

Nope--not without your own management on the call.

@Lorne-Kates said in The Official Status Thread:

Well, except for your awful grammar. It should be "Today my father's brother and I ...".
-
@FrostCat Oh. Wow. I've not read Paladin of Shadows because even by Ringo standards, the synopsis just felt too creepy.
But now I have to.
-
@Weng LOL! Had you heard about OH JOHN RINGO NO before?
I actually haven't read anything of his yet, other than the first page of I don't remember which book, on Amazon.
-
@FrostCat I had not. I've covered literally everything he's written, aside from that series. It's mostly a lot of fun, assuming you can headspace the libertarianism.
You can tell at points where he clearly wanted to write something seriously squicky and see the books literally turn and avoid going down that avenue. Apparently, he just put those scenes into this series instead.
Troy Rising is a good place to start. You get his politics and style without any of the near squick. Moreover, the politics actually make sense in the situation and don't exist for their own sake.
-
@Weng said in The Official Status Thread:

Hah, well, you're welcome for that indirect introduction.

@ScholRLEA an anti-pope, maybe. Go follow @Maciejasjmj[1]'s link.

Yes, but two hours ago you were still using your old password, so the machine never bothered trying to confirm your credentials with AD on login.

Besides, that would have been a different error message. ;)
-
@Tsaukpaetra were you connected to the network?
You were probably using cached credentials offline from the domain, and now you're online.
And disconnecting from the network now will probably let you log in again. Then you can run that command to resync the computer to the domain
EDIT: Or a clock is wrong. That can cause that error too iirc.
-
@sloosecannon said in The Official Status Thread:
were you connected to the network?
Sure was. I had the computer on to copy critical stuff not yet backed up (turns out there wasn't much) and to perform a full disk check (because possible bad sectors).
@sloosecannon said in The Official Status Thread:

Possibly. But I was using my (unchanged) password. The error message means that the computer's trust connection (aka Computer account in the domain) has a key mismatch.
This is most commonly encountered when doing things like reverting a VM from a snapshot.@sloosecannon said in The Official Status Thread:

Nope.
@sloosecannon said in The Official Status Thread:

Maybe, I'll double-check when Windows finishes installing. ;)
I was checking the disk because I'm not sure if it's acquiring bad sectors (conclusion: Results inconclusive. This may be a hybrid device that might be skewing standard tests). Obviously I don't want to spend effort installing Windows on a machine destined to crash due to corruption. :D
At the moment, I'm waiting for it to install all the default Windows Store apps and watching all the cutesy little phrases.
-
@Tsaukpaetra said in The Official Status Thread:
Windows finishes installing.
Ok, that's done. That was damn quick...
'Course, the Wifi driver apparently can't connect to the network. NFC why.
But Windows Update apparently took almost no time to actually finish detection et al. What OS am I using again?

The glitch is cleared when invalidating that area of the window, so maybe it's a Chrome rendering issue?

@Tsaukpaetra good luck reporting that bug. They still haven't even touched the one I reported: https://crbug.com/627333

I think I either got it from TVTropes, or this forum. It's a classic piece anyway, right there with that review of FATAL I've linked to a few times as well.

No need to hunt for a small back button, just make a left gesture from wherever your mouse cursor happens to be.

Edit: Nope. Still borked after a system restart.

Solved. It appears to be an upgrade to Google Drive that messes things up. I may have had this problem since March sometime but haven't noticed it.
Ah well, on the plus side Disk Utility found some problems with the HD to fix as well so the reboot wasn't entierly wasted.

Me: "Oh, okay. Seems like there's a problem with a certificate or something. Can we run that via HTTP instead of HTTPS?" *tweaks definition*
VSTS:Build FAILED. No HTTP for you.
Me: "Well, fuck." *reverts the change*
VSTS:Build PASSED.
Me: ?Took me a long while to realize we have six build agents in the pool for that definition, and one of them apparently has a misconfigured JVM or something. Easy fix - mark it as not having a SonarQube capability, we don't really use that agent anyway - but it was not fun to debug.
-
@Tsaukpaetra I think that indicates a registry fuckup or something. It's annoying to fix.
-
@OffByOne Great, now Chrome's got the FF brain rot of "we're taking away behavior that was standard for 20 years because of shithead stupid young modern devs, and hopefully someone will write you an extension that will sort of fix the functionality."
"hunt for a small back button?" Really? Mine's a double-sized key, and as a touch-typist I know exactly where it is.

$10 bottle, $10 notebook, $5 cinch bag, $10 shirt. $5 random junk, -$10 for the awful book this year. 0 effort put into it. Awful paper, awful print quality.
Also you get an attendee pin. Screw that.
