@Tsaukpaetra If the local government is not clearing the snow properly and is therefore blocking your right of way, you could probably sue them.
Sadly suing people is between 10 and 100 times more expensive than it should be, so you don't want to actually do that, but you can scare them into thinking you're going to sue them if they do it again.

Status: Having to interface/mess with some fortran code.
Now, I've had to deal with fortran before, but I'm not really fluent in it. Anyway, I end up writing a lot of small test programs to see how the syntax works/if it does what I expect/want it to.
Most recent test program, ~50 loc:
... <snip /> Error: Expecting END BLOCK statement at (1) test.f03:42.13: end block 1 Error: Expected block name of 'í²¸í³:í³ ' in END BLOCK statement at (1) test.f03:46.3: end subroutine sub 1 Error: Expecting END BLOCK statement at (1) f951: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault
Guess fortran & I will not be getting friends this time around either.

@anonymous234 Thou shalt not independently maintain the public property.
And I would be astonished if there was a judge or selectable jury in the land that would find fault with a government responsible for thousands of miles of road choosing to do Bumfuck Rural Cul De Sac Full of Retirees last.

Status: I finally saw Zootopia. I enjoyed the film, but one question haunts me, hours, days after the film concluded. I can't get the thought to depart from the back of my mind, constantly nagging at me, disturbing my rest. I have searched for answers, but to no avail: there is simply no information I can find to ease my tortured mind. And so I turn to you, fellow citizens of WTDWTF, to see if an answer can be found:
Why the fuck is that ewe so fucking small?! Every other sheep is a normal size except that one tiny one that's smaller than a goddamn rabbit! Is she a baby? Is she a dwarf? What is this?

If they have a responsibility to do clean your area, whether they have to do other parts first ought to be irrelevant.
Now, if they can prove that they can't clean up your area because they don't have the resources... can they sue the upper level of government?
I don't know much about law, and frankly I don't want to know about it, the little I know makes the world of software seem sane and efficient.
-
@anonymous234 They could sue the taxpayers for not providing enough cash to buy ten times the equipment.

STATUS:
Boss is walking around the office, asking everyone for ideas on how to integrate his failing SAAS idea with his partner's healthy, growing app. We all know the answer is "you can't and you shouldn't, these are separate products with separate client bases". But this is his one chance to ride the startup growth train in the first class compartment, so of course, he's asking for 3rd, 4th and 17th opinion.

I'm still bothered by the giant rabbit family in a world where "predators" somehow evolved to not eat rabbits.

When I quit caffeine I took Advil for a week to deal with the headache--that helped a lot. But also you might need to make some lifestyle adjustmest, too, like getting a bit more sleep.

@cvi The e in 'end block' seems to be only on column 5. Doesn't it have to be in, I don't recall, column 9 or something?

@FrostCat AFAIK modern fortran relaxes that a bit. The
block
-feature, the way I'm trying to use it, was added in Fortran 2008. From what I understand, it behaves like an inner scope in C, letting you declare additional variables mid-function (but only in the scope of theblock
). Because, apparently, you couldn't do that in Fortran until 2008?(Alas, I'm really really glad that this is modern fortran, and not like f77 or something similarly terrible.)
Edit: Even so, that shouldn't ICE/segfault the compiler.

@FrostCat They have they contingency covered: They dispatch plows and/or excavators with 911 calls.

Wondering why my breakpoints aren't getting hit.
Double checking I'm looking at the same page.
Seeing the big green "run" button in VS.
Realising I'm hoping the UAT site will hit breakpoints on a non running dev site

@FrostCat He makes some very good points, but the 'designed to impress people' can go really really overboard. At worst, you could end up as Shyamalan.

Didn't really think about that. They did seem to put a lot of effort into making things approximately the right size. She must be deformed.

If you switched to paper, it should come at a regular period. This allows you to set reminders fairly accurately. This allows you to pay on time. This allows you to avoid paying fees.
I sense much paper in you...

@Tsaukpaetra If they can't even send out a simple email on schedule, how should I expect them to succeed at the more complicated task of printing and mailing real bills?
Also, despite that I'm only signed up for paperless billing, they usually mail me a physical bill anyway. Come to think of it, I haven't seen one of those in a while either.

That's the point. Even if they failed to send you a bill in a timely manner, you're still obligated to pay. Setting s reminder to ensure you do so is prudent and helpful.

@cvi said in The Official Status Thread:

@HardwareGeek probably can answer this better, but IIRC Fortran only had global variables back in the day. Maybe there were per-function variables; I don't recall.
-
@boomzilla said in The Official Status Thread:

They may not have explicitly addressed it? I got the impression from context that the various kinds of animals more or less decided to start living together. (I watched the movie when it first came out so I'm also operating from memory here.) If predators had evolved out of a desire to eat meat, than the entire plot wouldn't have worked as it was. I don't think they thought it through too well, either, because based on what they said in the movie, the effects should probably have worn off after a day or so, and then you'd have a bunch of predators waking up in jail going "what's going on and where am I?" kind of like how first-time werewolves or vampires do in some movies.
-
@FrostCat said in The Official Status Thread:

Depends on how “back in the day” we're talking. There were a lot of vendor extensions to Fortran, far more than there ever were for modern languages like C…
