Yes, it means that the websocket died (or something) so you need to do an action that will fail but reconnect it. Typically navigating to a different topic and coming back, posting, navigating to the top and back will fix it. Or refresh, of course.

@Tsaukpaetra Lovely. Doesn't take long though, it died soon as I came back to this topic. I just tried to upvote your post. Lol

You don't have enough to pay $0.00 in your checking account, or your bank returns 0 for both failure and the result of transferring $0.00?

Well, I was trying to slide in some humor in and TDWTF meme in, but it may have been too obscure.
The real issue is that the primary account that's set as the payment method is
invalidZero-balanced. I guess that's why charges went to the credit card, but that's using an old auth and gets flagged every transaction. Not sure why I haven't noticed until now, but it's been a while since I purchased anything of note on Google...

@aliceif DS4 works fine. I've been using it with x360ce for a while.
The only annoyance is having to hold the PS button for what feels like an age to turn off the joypad.

Thanks, Microsoft, for this bug in the WDK that was reported at least three years ago, yet persists through the editions to this day. No way to work around it; have to downgrade all the way to WDK 7.1.0 which SUCKS because there's no VS integration.

@accalia Probably UK vs US keyboards. Right alt is altGr for me, and I think it's actually mapped to ctrl+alt
I made the mistake of installing some utility that is supposed to make it easier to type foreign characters on en-us keyboards.
Why not WinCompose?
Set the Menu key as the compose key and your muscle memory won't make you type unintended things.

Seconded, except I map compose over caps lock.

That's it.
@OffByOne said in The Official Status Thread:

TIL.
TBH, I think it's not so much (or maybe at all) WinCompose getting in my way, as it is my keyboard layout randomly changing. There is some key combo to switch languages that I can never remember on the infrequent occasions when I want to switch, but which I sometimes hit accidentally when I don't want to, and that turns Alt into AltGr.

If you need it infrequently, why don't you disable the keycombo and use the language/keyboard layout switcher thingie next to the clock?
-
@OffByOne said in The Official Status Thread:
why don't you disable the keycombo
Maybe because, in addition to not remembering the key combo, I didn't remember it was possible to disable it. However, I just poked around in the settings enough to find it. And discovered why I
keepkept hitting it accidentally. One of the applications I use a lot has a lot of multi-modifier keyboard shortcuts, and it turns out Shift+Alt, if I happen to use the left Shift, is the one that's been annoying me. So that's why I keep typing Greek in that application... I had noticed it seemed to be most troublesome in that application; now I know why.@OffByOne said in The Official Status Thread:

I do, because I couldn't remember the combo to switch intentionally.

@Tsaukpaetra wouldn't a trashcan and some DVDRs be cheaper?

Considering how often I actually use optical media? Meh.
It's more effort to obtain new media than to pop in stuff I already have and erase it when I'm bored.

Been here 2 hours. Thus far I have accomplished:
Almost crapping myself.
Turning my computer on.
Windows Update.
Taking several more craps.
Visiting the vending machine.
Yet another crap.Apparently last night's alcoholic escapades have upset my intestinal tract.

Nawww, just note it down and take action during official hours. If it still makes sense (which is a great way of filtering out smart-stupid ideas).

Dad just called and told me he'd killed my lawnmower.
Good. I wanted an upgrade.
Look upon my future lawnmower and despair, peasants!
I'm not even kidding. I want a bucket loader for snow clearance purposes.

@Weng I knew you merikans use monster trucks for your daily commute, I just didn't know you use excavators for mowing the lawn.

I'd suspect them of being involved in the brillant idea, too.

@Tsaukpaetra 3.0, but only on one, or maybe two, cores.

@groo Not frequently. But I have strange needs. Pretty big yard, very long driveway, a street that often isn't plowed for days after snow (I've decided I'm going to take that into my own hands and plow/dig myself out, fuck the law it's a safety issue since we also often don't have electricity for that period). And my hobby also occasionally requires a forklift, which this can stand in for. If I can get all of that plus lawn mowing in a single piece of equipment, why wouldn't I?

@Weng said in The Official Status Thread:

It's illegal to dig yourself out? Wut?

Right, because it's government property. You can't modify things that aren't yours, including painting transformer boxes, cutting grass, or, apparently, clearing snow.

STATUS
THURSDAY
Neck deep in react native reducers, actions, sagas, stores and other react-y garbage.
Hmm... so, the action creator just creates an action object and sends it into the store. Reducer handles the synchronous part.
Yes, yes... I think I get it...
And sagas listen to the actions as they flow through the store. They execute ajax calls in the background, and then emit new actions once the promises resolve...
Yes, I get it now! This is actually kind of elegant. Maybe even beautiful!
Well, off I go to an extended weekend.
...
MONDAY
What is all this crap? I don't understand anything!

More of they probably don't want some moron plowing a car with his snowplow while "cleaning the streets"
ETA: Accidentally, of course, although the reasoning would apply to intentional plowing as well.

How do point releases and breaking backwards compatibility sound to you. You won't even update to the newest version that has the bug fixes you specifically requested and you still bitch about them.
