How has that not been fixed yet? I already complained about the issue, upped the severity of the issue, and demonstrated it's actually an issue. WTF.

Status:
No more signing drivers ourselves with our perfectly-valid (and expensive) code signing certificate. Soon they will need to be submitted to Microsoft for signing and validation instead.
They better not be as retarded as Apple's App Store guys when I had to submit stuff through them.
EDIT: Still trying to find the process, but my guess is signing our drivers just went from a 30-second process to a 3-week process.

have used Plume in the past.
Crashy, but looks OK and has a widget. It doesn't do onebox videos, like the official app, and it's uglier. But overall, seems like a bearable alternative.
I'll give it a try, and if crashes slow down, fork out the money for "premium".

wait, what? why don't you just check if it's enabled first?

@bb36e said in The Official Status Thread:

Because then that would mean the dialog is dynamically generated, which is hard because translation and programming, not to mention :effort:
-
@bb36e said in The Official Status Thread:

Presumably because it requires elevation, and that is not yet elevated.

why not start it elevated? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
@bb36e Because if you don't choose to check the settings, there's no need to elevate at all and elevation should only be done if absolutely required.
I don't fucking know, ask the guy who wrote it. Why you asking us?

STATUS:
I deleted the eth0 interface on a remote server.
Then I added something called Linux Bridge. Then I entered a bunch of IP4 and IP6 information I sort of half guessed, half copied from the old configuration.
Then I added eth0 as a slave of the bridge device.
Then I rebooted the server.
It came back. Seems to be working.
Dear Hustler, this had never happened to me before...

Well, initial synopsis indicates the voltmeter shorted out. It did it before (the line was fused(?)) and I tried to seperate the lines and wrap everything in a fuckton of electrical tape.
How in the world did you get a Voltmeter to short out? Are you playing with voltages in the MV range?

Unless the fuse shorted.
Which it did.

Because the back is unshielded and poorly designed. Next up: tons of hot glue and insulating putty. Everywhere.

Unfortunately, no, this particular message was legitimate insomuch as I can tell from skimming the headers. The bounceback email address is a non-existent one that was probably added to a distribution list by hand and matches a ceased employee login.

Status: Managed to find out how to begin to talk to my USB based measuring devices via WinJS in a HostedWebApp. For the purposes I have in mind, a HWA is actually quite nice: I get to access all the capabilities reserved for UWP apps (i.e. Inking, talking to USB devices, etc.) and also all the UI elements reserved for WinJS. And if I want to add a new capability, I merely have to update the code on my webserver instead of having to push an updated version of an app to 25 devices.
Also: By capability sniffing I can make sure that everyone else gets to see only the bog-standard site when viewing the site through a browser - but with the ability to see their measuring data because that's stored on the server anyway and I don't need to shove data around.
There's just one small snag: I haven't decoded the answers from the measuring devices yet. Well, if it comes down to it an USB sniffer will help me along.
Hrmmh. I wonder if the manufacturer would be interested in this - while their offering is intended for use in schools, it's severely lacking in the UX department. Quite frankly, I myself sometimes have (small) problems to figure out what all the settings in their software do. And other tasks (like, taking two measurements and comparing them to each other) require jumping through an (in my eyes) unneccessary amount of hoops.
Let's see...

I just launched it because I noticed it appeared again on my "new" machine (that has none of my tools so I can't actually work). I didn't go further, despite knowing all the things to actually set it up, because my Notes account is disabled currently for inactivity.

I just converted it into dollars because I know you Amercans are afraid of anything foreign. Didn't want to put a wall between us.
